SGT to PST

Going from Singapore time to Pacific time, add 8 hours and step back one day in winter, or add 9 hours and step back one day in summer. 10:00 AM Wednesday in Singapore becomes 6:00 PM Tuesday in Los Angeles in January and 7:00 PM Tuesday in July. Singapore and California share the same date only after 4:00 PM in Singapore in winter, or after 3:00 PM in summer.

Singapore has used UTC+8 without daylight saving since 1982, and California switches between PST (UTC−8) and PDT (UTC−7), so the gap moves on the US dates only: the second Sunday of March and the first Sunday of November.

Many US technology companies run their Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore, and Singapore-born firms such as Sea, the owner of Garena and Shopee, keep close ties with the Bay Area. Product teams split between the two places usually meet at the end of the California day: 5:00 to 7:00 PM Pacific is 9:00 to 11:00 AM the next day in Singapore in winter, and in summer the same Singapore morning lines up with 6:00 to 8:00 PM Pacific.

Singapore Airlines flies nonstop to San Francisco and Los Angeles in about 15 to 17 hours. The Singapore Grand Prix, a Formula 1 night race on the streets of Marina Bay, starts at 8:00 PM local time, which is 5:00 AM Pacific Daylight Time on the same Sunday.
