Max 95 MB per file· Up to 5 files· Deleted after 30 minutes
Files are processed on our servers and deleted after 30 minutes.
Keep exports only the part between start and end. Remove cuts that part out and joins what comes before and after it.
Exact re-encodes so the cut lands on the frame you typed. Fast copies the stream without re-encoding, keeps original quality, but may start up to a few seconds early at the nearest keyframe.
Seconds of fade from black (and from silence) at the start. 0 means a hard cut. Needs frame-exact mode.
Seconds of fade to black (and to silence) at the end. 0 means a hard cut. Needs frame-exact mode.
Keep the source format, or save as MP4 for the widest compatibility.

Frame-exact or fast: how the cut is made
Frame-exact
The selected part is decoded and encoded again, so it can start on any frame.
- Cuts land on the exact time typed
- Fade in and fade out available
- Takes longer; one extra generation of compression
Fast (no re-encode)
The compressed video is copied as it is, from the keyframe nearest your start time.
- Original quality, bit for bit
- Finishes in seconds even for long files
- Start can shift a few seconds earlier
The difference comes from how modern codecs store video. H.264, H.265, VP9 and AV1 save a full picture only every so often, called a keyframe, and describe the frames in between as changes to the frames around them. A frame between two keyframes cannot be shown on its own, so a copy-only cut has to begin at a keyframe. Phones and cameras usually place one every second or two; screen recorders and streaming software sometimes much less often.
Frame-exact mode solves this by rebuilding the first few frames as a new keyframe, which requires an encode. At the quality used here the change is not visible on a normal screen. Need the result smaller as well as shorter? Trim first, then run the clip through compress video. To save just the sound of the trimmed part, video to audio has its own start and end fields.
The Output format setting decides the container of the result. Same as source keeps whatever you uploaded; MP4 is the choice for upload forms and phones; MOV suits Final Cut Pro and iMovie; WebM suits web pages; MKV is the flexible open container. In Fast mode the streams are copied unchanged, so a format change works best when the original codec also fits the new container, such as H.264 into MP4 or MOV.
When an online trim goes wrong
The clip starts a few seconds too early
You are in Fast mode, which snaps to the previous keyframe. Switch Accuracy to Frame-exact.
The trimmed video freezes for a moment at the start
Some players show a still image until the first keyframe in a copy-only cut. Frame-exact mode removes the freeze.
The end time was rejected
Check the format: use a colon between minutes and seconds (2:05), not a period, and make sure the end is later than the start.
The removed section left an audible jump
Cutting from the middle joins two moments directly. Move the cut points to a pause in speech or music, ideally between sentences, so the join sounds like a natural break.
TipTurn on Remove audio in the same pass when the trimmed clip will become a silent background loop for a website or a slide. A 0.5-second Fade in and Fade out then hides the jump where the loop restarts.
Questions about trimming video online
How do I trim a video without losing quality?
Set Accuracy to Fast (no re-encode). The video and sound are copied bit for bit, so nothing is recompressed. The trade-off is that the cut moves to the nearest keyframe, so the clip may begin up to a few seconds before the time you typed.
Can I cut out a section from the middle of a video?
Yes. Choose Remove it in Selected range, then type the start and end of the part you do not want. Everything before and after it is joined into one continuous video.
How do I remove several separate parts?
Run the tool once per section: remove the first part, download the result, upload it again and remove the next one. Work from the end of the video backward so the times you noted from the original still match.
Why are the fade options greyed out or ignored?
Fades change every frame at the start or end, which is impossible without re-encoding. They work only with Accuracy set to Frame-exact. Each fade can last from 0.5 to 10 seconds and also fades the sound.
Can I trim several videos at once?
Yes, up to 5 videos per run, all with the same start and end time, which suits clips recorded the same way. When each clip needs its own cut points, trim them in separate runs. For more clips, the Start at and End at fields in the video converter apply to a whole batch of up to 20.
Can I trim a video to fit an upload time limit?
Yes. Leave Start at at 0:00 and set End at to the limit, for example 2:20 for the 140-second cap on a standard X post, or the length a course portal or job application asks for. Choose Frame-exact so the clip does not run a second over.
Does trimming change the resolution or file format?
Not unless you ask. With Output format on Same as source, the resolution, frame rate and container stay as they were. Choose MP4 when the trimmed clip has to play on any device or upload form.
Is it safe to trim a private video online?
The file is sent over an encrypted connection, processed, and deleted from the server 30 minutes later along with the result. Nothing is published or shared. The privacy policy lists exactly what is stored and for how long.
