PDF to Image
Save every page of a PDF, or only the pages you choose, as separate images in the format and resolution you need. Use them in slides, chat messages, websites, print layouts or any app that does not open PDFs.

Max 95 MB per file· Up to 20 files· Deleted after 30 minutes
Files are processed on our servers and deleted after 30 minutes.
Page numbers or ranges separated by commas, e.g. 1-3, 5.
85 keeps text crisp. Lower it only if the images are too large to upload.
Black & white produces pure black and white pixels, which suits scanned text and keeps files very small.
Each page becomes its own image. A ZIP keeps them together and numbered in page order.
How to use this tool
- 1
Upload one or more PDFs
Add up to 20 PDF files, each up to 95 MB. Every page becomes its own image unless you limit the pages.
- 2
Set format and resolution
Choose a format in Convert to and a Resolution in DPI. Under Advanced settings you can pick pages, color mode and how the download is packaged.
- 3
Convert and save the images
Press Convert to and the format name. Pages are numbered in order and arrive as one ZIP or as separate files.
Each PDF page is rendered at the DPI you choose and saved as an image, exactly as it looks in a PDF viewer, including text, vector drawings and photos.
Why save PDF pages as images
Images go where PDFs cannot. Messaging apps show a picture inline but make a PDF a download; social networks, many website builders and most slide templates expect JPG or PNG; and print shops, fax gateways and document archives often want TIFF. Turning a page into an image also freezes it: nobody can copy the text out of a flattened screenshot of a contract, and the layout cannot shift because of a missing font.
Rendering is different from extraction. Instead of pulling out the photos embedded in the file, the tool draws the whole page the way a PDF viewer does, then saves that drawing at the resolution you set. Text and vector graphics are rasterized cleanly at any DPI, while embedded photos can only be as sharp as they were in the PDF.
If you need the opposite direction, put images together into one document with merge PDF. If you want an editable document rather than pictures of pages, the PDF converter rebuilds text and tables in Word, Excel or plain text.
Image size in pixels at 72, 150 and 300 DPI
| Page size | Pixels at | ||
|---|---|---|---|
| 72 DPI | 150 DPI | 300 DPI | |
| A5 (148 × 210 mm) | 420 × 595 | 874 × 1240 | 1748 × 2480 |
| A4 (210 × 297 mm) | 595 × 842 | 1240 × 1754 | 2480 × 3508 |
| Letter (8.5 × 11 in) | 612 × 792 | 1275 × 1650 | 2550 × 3300 |
| Legal (8.5 × 14 in) | 612 × 1008 | 1275 × 2100 | 2550 × 4200 |
| A3 (297 × 420 mm) | 842 × 1191 | 1754 × 2480 | 3508 × 4961 |
The Resolution field accepts any value from 36 to 600 DPI. PDF measures pages in points, 72 to the inch, so 72 DPI produces one pixel per point and matches what a PDF viewer shows at 100% zoom on a classic display. A US Letter page at 300 DPI is 2550 × 3300 px, about 8.4 megapixels, which is plenty for a full-page print.
Color mode changes size as much as DPI does. Grayscale stores one channel instead of three, and Black & white stores pure black and white pixels, so a text page saved as a black and white PNG is often only a small fraction of the color JPG of the same page. Use black and white for typed letters, forms and receipts, and keep color for anything with photos, highlighting or signatures in blue ink.

| SVG | Vector | Diagrams and plans you want to scale without blur | **Convert text to outlines** |
Before you convert: a short checklist
- Limit Pages to All pages, First page only or Selected pages so you do not download 200 images to use three.
- Choose Color, Grayscale or Black & white under Color; black and white makes scanned text pages very small.
- Keep Download as on One ZIP file for many pages; the images stay numbered in page order.
- For fax or archive uploads, choose TIFF and turn on Multi-page TIFF to get one file with all pages.
- Remove the password from a protected PDF first; encrypted files cannot be rendered without it.
Fixing blurry or oversized page images
Text looks soft when zoomed in
Raise Resolution to 300 DPI, or switch to PNG so letter edges are not touched by JPEG compression.
Images are too large to upload
Lower Resolution to 150 or 110 DPI and keep JPG at a Quality around 75. Halving the DPI cuts the pixel count to a quarter.
A scanned page is still blurry at 300 DPI
The scan inside the PDF was low resolution; rendering cannot add detail that was never captured. Rescan the paper if possible.
Fonts look different in the SVG
The computer opening the SVG lacks the fonts. Convert again with Convert text to outlines turned on.
PDF to image questions
Which DPI should I use to turn a PDF into images?
150 DPI is the default and looks sharp on phones, laptops and slides. Use 72 for quick previews and thumbnails, 300 for printing or when someone needs to zoom into small text. Each doubling of DPI roughly quadruples the pixel count and the file size.
How do I convert just one page of a PDF to an image?
Open Advanced settings, set Pages to Selected pages and type the page number in Page range. First page only is a shortcut for covers and thumbnails.
Is the image quality better as PNG or JPG?
PNG is lossless, so text edges and thin lines stay perfectly crisp, which suits documents and diagrams. JPG is smaller and better for pages that are mostly photographs. At a Quality of 85, most people cannot see a difference on a photo-heavy page.
Can I extract the original photos from a PDF instead of whole pages?
This tool renders whole pages, so each image shows the page exactly as a viewer would, including text and margins. To use a single photo, convert the page at a high DPI and crop it in any image editor.
Why does my exported page have a black background?
The page was saved with Transparent background on and is being viewed in an app with a dark theme. Turn the option off to get the normal white page, or use JPG, which cannot store transparency.
What does Convert text to outlines do in SVG output?
It draws each letter as a vector shape, so the SVG looks identical on computers that do not have the PDF's fonts installed. The trade-off is that the text can no longer be selected, searched or edited.
Can all PDF pages go into a single image file?
Only as TIFF: choose TIFF in Convert to and turn on Multi-page TIFF to keep every page in one file, which fax services and many document archives expect. JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP and SVG store one page per file, so a ZIP is the way to keep them together.
