Days Between Dates
Count the exact number of days from one date to another, see the same span as weeks, months and years, and find how many Monday-to-Friday business days it contains. Decide whether the end date counts with one checkbox.

Does the end date count?
By default the calculator counts like a calendar subtraction: from 1 March to 2 March is one day. The start date is included and the end date is not. Tick Include the end date when both days should count, for example a hotel stay counted in days rather than nights, a festival from Friday to Sunday, or a leave request where the last day is also taken off; the total grows by exactly one.
Law and contracts often use their own rule. In the United States, Rule 6(a) of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure excludes the day of the triggering event, counts every following day including weekends and holidays, and moves a deadline that lands on a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday to the next working day. Check the wording of your contract or court rules before relying on any calculator for a legal deadline.
Months, leap years and ISO dates
Months are 28 to 31 days long, so "one month" is not a fixed number of days. The breakdown above counts whole calendar months first and then the days left over. When the start falls on a day the target month does not have, the month ends on its last day: 31 January plus one month is 28 February, or 29 February in a leap year.
The Gregorian calendar has a leap day in every year divisible by 4, except century years that are not divisible by 400. So 2000 was a leap year, 1900 was not, and 2100 will not be. That rule makes the average year 365.2425 days long and repeats the whole calendar, weekdays included, every 400 years. The dates in this tool follow ISO 8601, the international YYYY-MM-DD format, which also defines Monday as the first day of the week.
Business days and working weeks
Business days here are Monday to Friday, counted the same way as the total: start date in, end date out unless you include it. Public holidays differ by country, region and even employer, so they are not subtracted; take them off by hand for a shipping estimate or a payment term such as "net 30 business days".
Not every country works Monday to Friday. Israel's working week runs from Sunday to Thursday, as Saudi Arabia's has since 2013, while the United Arab Emirates moved to a Monday-to-Friday week in 2022. If you are coordinating dates with a team abroad, the time zone converter shows whether their working day has already ended.
Frequently asked questions
- How many days are there between two dates if I count both of them?
- Take the normal difference and add one. From 1 to 10 June is 9 days as a difference, but 10 days when both the 1st and the 10th count. The checkbox in the calculator does this for you.
- What date is 90 days from today?
- The table of common spans under the calculator lists the dates 7, 14, 30, 45, 60, 90, 120, 180 and 365 days from the day the page was built, with the weekday and the number of business days. For a different start date, enter it in the calculator and adjust the end date until the total shows 90.
- Why does the month count look different from days divided by 30?
- Because the tool counts real calendar months. 1 February to 1 March is one month although it is only 28 or 29 days, and 1 July to 1 August is one month of 31 days. Dividing by 30 or 30.44 gives an average, not the calendar answer.
- Do daylight saving changes affect the day count?
- No. The calculator works with whole calendar dates, not clock times, so the 23-hour and 25-hour days around clock changes still count as one day each.
- Are public holidays excluded from business days?
- No, only Saturdays and Sundays are excluded. Holidays vary by country and region, so subtract the ones that apply to you from the business-day figure.
