QR Code Generator
Type a link, a Wi-Fi password, a contact or a payment ID and download a QR code that phones scan with their camera. Nothing to upload, nothing to sign up for, and the code works for as long as the content inside it stays valid.
QR Code Generator
Link is required.
Nothing is uploaded; the code is generated for you to download.
Width and height of the PNG in pixels. 1000 px prints sharply up to about 8 cm; vector formats ignore this.
Blank border around the code, counted in modules (the small squares). Scanners need at least 4 on a busy background.
Higher levels still scan when part of the code is dirty or covered by a logo, but the pattern becomes denser.
Keep it dark. Light codes on dark backgrounds fail on many older phone cameras.
Needs strong contrast with the code color; white is the safest choice.
How to use this tool
- 1
Choose the QR code type
Pick what the scan should do in QR code type: open a website link, join Wi-Fi, save a contact, pay by UPI, open a map location and so on. The fields below change to match.
- 2
Fill in the content
Paste the link or type the details. For many codes at once, choose Bulk and paste one entry per line. Size, quiet zone, error correction and colors are under Advanced settings.
- 3
Generate and download
Pick PNG, SVG, PDF or EPS in Download as and press Generate. Scan the result with your own phone once before printing it.
How do I make a QR code for free?
Pick the QR code type, type the link or details, and press Generate. You get a static PNG, SVG, PDF or EPS file with no expiry date, no watermark and no account needed.
QR code types you can generate
Website link / Link to a PDF
Enter the full https:// address; a scan opens the page or file in the browser.
Wi-Fi network
Enter the network name, password and security type; a scan offers to join the network.
Contact card (vCard)
Enter name, company, phone and email; a scan offers to save a new contact.
UPI payment
Enter the UPI ID, name and an optional amount in rupees; a scan opens a UPI app with the payee filled in.
Map location
Enter latitude and longitude; a scan opens the point in a maps app.
Email / SMS / Phone call
Enter the address or number, plus a subject or message; a scan starts the message or the call.
Calendar event
Enter a title, start and end; a scan offers to add the event.
Plain text
Up to 2,000 characters that show on screen when scanned.
Bulk
Paste a list with one entry per line and get one code per line, delivered as a ZIP.
The type matters because phones look for a specific format inside the code. A Wi-Fi code, for example, stores the network name, password and security type in the WIFI: format that iPhone and Android cameras recognize, which is why scanning it shows a Join button instead of plain text. The dedicated pages set the type for you: the Wi-Fi QR code generator for guest networks, the vCard QR code generator for business cards, and the UPI QR code generator for shop counters in India.
For a location, paste coordinates in decimal degrees; in Google Maps, right-clicking a spot shows them at the top of the menu. For a PDF menu or brochure, upload the file to your website or a cloud drive, make the link public, and use the PDF type so the code opens it directly.
Error correction levels L, M, Q and H
- Low (L)about 7% recoverable
- Medium (M), defaultabout 15%
- High (Q)about 25%
- Max (H)about 30%
The QR code was invented in 1994 by Denso Wave, a Toyota group company, to track car parts, and was standardized internationally as ISO/IEC 18004 in 2000. Every code carries Reed–Solomon error correction, extra data that lets a scanner rebuild the message when part of the pattern is dirty, scratched or covered. The four levels in Error correction set how much of the code can be lost.
Higher levels are not free. The extra data makes the pattern denser, moving it to a larger version: QR codes come in 40 versions, from 21 × 21 modules up to 177 × 177. At level L, the biggest version holds 7,089 digits or 2,953 bytes; at H it holds far less. Medium suits screens and clean print; choose High or Max for outdoor signs, packaging that gets handled, or a code you plan to overlay with a logo.
A free QR code generator that doesn't expire
MythFree QR codes stop working after a trial period.
FactA static code is just a pattern; it cannot be turned off. Codes stop working on some sites because they were dynamic codes routed through that company's server.
MythYou need an account to download a QR code.
FactThis generator runs without sign-up, and nothing is uploaded: the code is created from the text you type.
MythColored QR codes do not scan.
FactColor is fine as long as the code is darker than its background with strong contrast; light codes on dark backgrounds are the risky combination.
QR code image size for print
| Size | Pixels | cm | in | DPI | Fits |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 600 px | 600 × 600 | 5.1 × 5.1 | 2.0 × 2.0 | 300 | Business cards, flyers |
| 1000 px | 1000 × 1000 | 8.5 × 8.5 | 3.3 × 3.3 | 300 | Default; menus, table cards, posters read up close |
| 2000 px | 2000 × 2000 | 16.9 × 16.9 | 6.7 × 6.7 | 300 | Shop windows, A3 posters |
| 4000 px | 4000 × 4000 | 33.9 × 33.9 | 13.3 × 13.3 | 300 | Maximum PNG size; banners use SVG or PDF instead |
Why a QR code won't scan
- The white border is intact: scanners need a blank Quiet zone of 4 modules, the standard's figure and the default here, so do not trim it in a layout app
- The code is big enough for the distance: a common rule of thumb is a width of at least one tenth of the scanning distance, such as 10 cm for a poster read from 1 m
- Code color is dark and Background color is light; with Transparent background, check what sits behind the code once it is printed
- The link works on your own phone before you print, and shared files are set to public; otherwise a good code still opens an error page
QR code generator questions
Do the QR codes made here expire?
No. These are static codes: the link or text is written into the black-and-white pattern itself, so there is no server in between that could be switched off. A code keeps working as long as the website, file or network it points to still exists.
How do I create a QR code for a URL?
Leave QR code type on Website link, paste the full address including https:// into Link, and press Generate. Shorter links make a less dense pattern that scans faster, so remove tracking parameters you do not need.
Can I change where the QR code points after printing it?
Not with a static code; changing the destination means printing a new code. The workaround is to encode a link you control, such as a page on your own site, and update that page or its redirect whenever the target changes.
Can I turn an image or a photo album into a QR code?
A QR code cannot hold a picture, only a short piece of data. Upload the image or album to a sharing service, copy its public link and make a Website link code from it. That is how wedding guests reach a shared photo album from a table card.
Can I put my logo in the middle of the QR code?
The generator does not place logos, but you can add one in a design app afterwards. Set Error correction to Max (30%) first and keep the logo small, at most about a fifth of the code's width, so the damaged area can still be rebuilt by the scanner.
How do I make hundreds of QR codes at once?
Choose Bulk (one code per line) and paste a column from Excel or a CSV file into One entry per line. Each line becomes its own code, named by its line number, and all of them download together as one ZIP. The bulk QR code generator page opens with this mode ready.
Which download format should I give to a printer?
SVG, PDF or EPS. They are vector formats, so the code stays perfectly sharp on a business card or a banner. PNG is a pixel image for screens, emails and documents; its Image size sets the resolution, 1000 px by default and up to 4000 px.
Is a QR code for Wi-Fi safe to put on the wall?
Anyone who scans it can join the network and can also read the password stored in the code. That is fine for a guest network or a café, but put your main home or office network behind a separate guest network instead.
