White space around each image: small is 5 mm, medium 10 mm, large 20 mm. Ignored when page size is the same as the image.
Fit shows the whole image with white space if the shapes differ; fill covers the page and crops the edges; actual size places it at its print size from DPI.
Put 2 or 4 images on each page in a grid, for ID cards front and back or contact sheets.

How to use this tool
- 1
Upload the HEIC photos
Pick up to 50 .heic or .heif files, 95 MB each, from your iPhone, iPad, Mac or a Windows folder synced with iCloud Photos.
- 2
Check page and order
Pages start at Letter size with small margins and Auto orient on, so photos taken sideways are turned the right way. Choose A4 under Page size if the recipient is outside North America.
- 3
Convert and send
Press Convert to PDF. One PDF holds all the photos in the order you added them, ready to attach, upload or print.
HEIC is what your iPhone camera saves; PDF is what offices, schools and portals ask for. The conversion takes a few seconds and needs no app.
Why your iPhone photos are HEIC files
Apple switched the iPhone camera to HEIC, short for High Efficiency Image Container, with iOS 11 in 2017. The format wraps images compressed with HEVC, the same codec used for 4K video, and stores a photo in noticeably less space than a JPEG of the same quality. On the phone it is invisible: Photos, Messages and AirDrop between Apple devices all handle it. macOS has opened HEIC since High Sierra, also in 2017.
The trouble starts outside that circle. A Windows PC without the right Microsoft Store extensions shows a blank icon, many web upload forms list JPG and PDF only, and office staff asked to print an attachment have no idea what a .heic file is. When the photos are pages of a document, a signed lease, a set of receipts, a doctor's note, PDF is the format everyone expects.
Combining the photos into one PDF also keeps them together and in order. If the file must fit under a portal's upload cap, set PDF file size to Target size, or start from the image to PDF under 200 KB preset.

HEIC
High Efficiency Image Container
HEIC is the HEIF image container (an MPEG standard from 2015) holding pictures compressed with the HEVC (H.265) codec. Apple made it the default photo format on iPhone and iPad in 2017 because it stores photos at roughly half the size of JPEG with similar quality. It can hold depth data, Live Photo sequences, transparency and 10-bit colour. Support outside the Apple ecosystem is patchy: many Windows PCs, web browsers, websites and online forms cannot open HEIC without extra codecs.

PDF was created by Adobe in 1993 and became the open ISO 32000 standard in 2008. It fixes text, fonts, images and layout so a document looks the same on every screen and printer. PDFs can contain forms, signatures, links, attachments and searchable text, and the PDF/A variant is used for long-term archiving. The fixed layout makes PDFs hard to edit, and scanned PDFs contain only images unless OCR is applied. Every browser and operating system can open them.

People convert HEIC to PDF to send iPhone photos of documents, receipts or IDs as one file that opens on any computer; nobody converts PDF to HEIC, the opposite need is pulling JPG pages back out.
HEIC to PDF: questions people ask
Why can't the person I sent HEIC files to open them?
HEIC needs a decoder that not every system has. Windows 10 and 11 open it only after the HEIF Image Extensions and HEVC Video Extensions are installed from the Microsoft Store, and many web forms and office scanners reject it. A PDF opens in any browser without extra software.
Can I convert HEIC to PDF on my iPhone without an app?
Yes, open this page in Safari and upload from Photos or Files. Note that Safari sometimes hands websites a JPEG copy of a HEIC photo when you pick it from the library; the result is the same PDF either way. Choosing the files from the Files app sends the original HEIC.
Are Live Photos and Portrait shots handled?
A Live Photo is a still HEIC image plus a short video; the still frame is what goes into the PDF. Portrait mode photos are converted with the background blur as you see it in Photos.
Does converting HEIC to PDF remove my location?
Yes. Strip metadata is on by default and removes GPS coordinates and camera data before the photos are placed in the PDF, so a document sent to a stranger does not reveal where it was photographed.
Can my iPhone save documents as JPEG instead of HEIC?
Go to Settings, Camera, Formats and choose Most Compatible. New photos are then saved as JPEG, which takes more storage per photo. Photos already in your library stay HEIC.
Can I get JPG files instead of a PDF?
If the recipient wants separate images rather than a document, use HEIC to JPG. It keeps each photo as its own file and works on the same batch of iPhone pictures.
