EPS to PDF Converter
EPS was the way to hand artwork to a printer for decades, so logos, stock vectors and old print jobs still arrive in it. Converting to PDF gives a file that current apps, browsers and phones open without help.

White space around each image: small is 5 mm, medium 10 mm, large 20 mm. Ignored when page size is the same as the image.
Fit shows the whole image with white space if the shapes differ; fill covers the page and crops the edges; actual size places it at its print size from DPI.
Put 2 or 4 images on each page in a grid, for ID cards front and back or contact sheets.
Custom page width in millimetres (A4 is 210 mm).
Custom page height in millimetres (A4 is 297 mm).

JPEG quality of photos inside the PDF. 85 keeps them sharp; with a target size this is the starting point.
How to use this tool
- 1
Upload the EPS files
Add up to 50 .eps files, 95 MB each, from a stock download, a brand folder or an archive of print jobs.
- 2
Keep the artwork size
Page size starts at Same as image and Image on page at Actual size, so the page follows the bounding box of the artwork. Pick A4 or Letter to place a logo on a printable sheet.
- 3
Convert
Press Convert to PDF. Each EPS becomes its own PDF in a ZIP, or one combined proof if you set Output to One PDF.
EPS is a PostScript program, not a picture
An EPS file is a small PostScript program wrapped with a bounding box so other documents can place it. Adobe published version 3.0 of the Encapsulated PostScript specification in 1992, and through the 1990s and 2000s it was the standard way to move logos and illustrations between design apps, typesetters and printers. Stock sites still sell vectors as EPS because older software of every kind can read it.
Running a program to draw a picture is also the weakness. Viewers need a PostScript interpreter, which phones and browsers do not ship, and the code can do more than draw. That is why Microsoft disabled EPS in Office in 2017 and why macOS Ventura dropped the ability of Preview to open PostScript files. PDF descends from PostScript but describes a finished page instead of a program, which makes it safe to open anywhere.

EPS
Encapsulated PostScript
EPS is a PostScript-based graphics file from Adobe, long used to exchange vector artwork with printers and publishers. It can contain vectors, text and embedded raster images along with a low-resolution preview. EPS does not support transparency, and modern software has largely replaced it with PDF and SVG. Opening it typically requires Illustrator, Inkscape, Affinity Designer or a Ghostscript-based tool, and browsers cannot display it.

Portable Document Format
PDF was created by Adobe in 1993 and became the open ISO 32000 standard in 2008. It fixes text, fonts, images and layout so a document looks the same on every screen and printer. PDFs can contain forms, signatures, links, attachments and searchable text, and the PDF/A variant is used for long-term archiving. The fixed layout makes PDFs hard to edit, and scanned PDFs contain only images unless OCR is applied. Every browser and operating system can open them.

EPS needs a PostScript interpreter that most phones, browsers and office suites no longer include, so artwork from stock libraries and print archives is converted to PDF to be viewed, approved and filed; PDF to EPS serves older sign and engraving software.
Fonts, outlines and color in EPS to PDF
Outline the text before saving the EPS
An EPS can name a font without including it. If the font is missing during conversion, a fallback takes its place and the logo changes shape. In Illustrator choose Type > Create Outlines; in CorelDRAW use Object > Convert to Curves, then save the EPS again.
With Image on page on Actual size, the page takes the dimensions of the EPS bounding box, measured in points like any PDF: 72 points to the inch. A logo drawn 3 in wide gives a page 216 points wide. When the box was set loosely, the page shows extra white around the artwork; tightening the artboard in the design app fixes that.
If you have the Illustrator source as well, AI to PDF uses the PDF content stored inside it and is usually the more faithful route. To keep the drawing editable as vectors for the web, go to EPS to SVG instead.
EPS to PDF questions
Why does my EPS look blurry in Word or a file preview?
Many EPS files carry a small TIFF or WMF preview that layout and office programs show instead of interpreting the PostScript. That thumbnail is often low resolution. The converter renders the PostScript code itself, so the PDF shows the real artwork.
Why can't I insert an EPS into Microsoft Office anymore?
In 2017 Microsoft turned off EPS support in Office for security reasons, because PostScript is a programming language that can be abused. Convert the EPS to PDF or PNG and insert that instead.
Do the colors of a CMYK EPS change in the PDF?
Colors are prepared for on-screen viewing, so a CMYK logo can shift slightly against the press values. For a print job, give the printer the original EPS or a PDF/X export from the design app, and use this PDF for approval and sharing.
What is a DCS file, and will it convert?
Desktop Color Separations is an EPS variant from the QuarkXPress era that stores each ink as a separate plate. A single-file DCS 2.0 includes a composite and usually converts; a DCS 1.0 set of five linked files shows only its preview unless all plates are together.
How do I combine several EPS logos into one PDF?
Upload them together, set Output to One PDF and choose 2 or 4 under Images per page for a contact sheet. To join the result with other documents later, use merge PDF.
Is EPS still worth using in a new project?
Rarely. Adobe's own apps have moved to PDF for print exchange, and SVG serves the web. Keep EPS only for partners whose cutting, engraving or embroidery software requires it.
