PPTX to PNG Converter

Export slides as PNG when they are going somewhere else to be reused: a video timeline, a design tool, a help article. Each slide becomes one lossless image, so titles, chart labels and icons keep clean edges.

How to use this tool

  1. 1

    Upload the PPTX

Drop one deck or up to 20, each up to 95 MB. Older .ppt and Keynote .key files are accepted too.

  2. 2

    Pick slides and DPI

Resolution is 150 DPI, so a widescreen slide becomes 2000 × 1125 px. Under Advanced settings, set Pages to a range like 4-6 for selected slides, and turn on Transparent background if you want see-through areas.

  3. 3

    Convert to PNG

Press Convert to PNG. The slides download as numbered PNG files in one ZIP, or one by one if you switch Download as one ZIP off.

Choose PNG over JPG when a slide is mostly text, shapes and charts, or when it will be edited further: PNG never adds compression blur, however many times the image is saved.

PPTX to PNG for slides that get reused

Most slide exports are not the end of the road. A trainer places slides into a screen recording, a support team pastes a diagram into a help article, a designer pulls a chart into a layout. Each step that saves a JPG again adds a little more blur around letters; a PNG can be opened, cropped and saved repeatedly without that loss.

PowerPoint itself can save a slide as a picture, but on Windows that export uses 96 DPI unless a registry value is changed, which gives 1280 × 720 px for a widescreen slide. Here you choose the DPI per batch. The widescreen slide that has been PowerPoint's default since 2013 measures 13.333 × 7.5 inches, so the pixel size is simply those inches multiplied by the DPI.

Transparent background is worth knowing about. Slide areas without a fill turn see-through, which is useful for a logo slide or a single diagram on a blank background. Slides with a theme color or background picture keep it, because that fill is part of the design.

Which DPI to use for PowerPoint to PNG

  1. 72 DPI

960 × 540 px. Thumbnails and link previews; small chart labels blur.

  2. 150 DPI

2000 × 1125 px. Covers Full HD screens and 1080p video.

  3. 300 DPI

4000 × 2250 px. Printing, 4K displays and zooming into charts.

  4. 600 DPI

8000 × 4500 px. Large prints only; files get heavy fast.

PPTX

Microsoft PowerPoint presentation

PPTX is Microsoft PowerPoint's default presentation format since Office 2007, based on the Office Open XML standard. It stores slides, layouts, images, charts, speaker notes, transitions and embedded media in a ZIP package of XML. It is the most widely used format for slide decks in business and education. Google Slides, Keynote and LibreOffice Impress open PPTX, though fonts, animations and layout may change slightly.

PNG

Portable Network Graphics

PNG is a lossless raster format published in 1996 by the PNG Development Group and later standardised by the W3C and ISO. It keeps every pixel exactly, supports full alpha transparency and handles text, sharp edges and flat colours without artefacts. That precision makes it ideal for screenshots, logos, icons and interface graphics. The trade-off is size: photographs saved as PNG are often several times larger than the same photo as JPEG or WebP. All browsers, operating systems and editors open PNG files.

Slides exported as PNG are meant to be reused as graphics: lossless pixels keep type and diagrams crisp, and a transparent background lets a slide element sit on top of other artwork.

PPTX to PNG questions

How do I export just one PowerPoint slide as a PNG?

Open Advanced settings, set Pages to Page range and type the slide number, for example 7. Only that slide is converted. Several separate slides work too, written as 2, 5, 9.

Can I get exactly 1920 × 1080 PNG files from my slides?

A widescreen slide reaches 1920 × 1080 at 144 DPI, which is not one of the choices. Convert at 150 DPI, which gives 2000 × 1125 px with the same 16:9 shape, then scale the images down with resize image. The small reduction keeps text sharp.

Will charts and SmartArt stay sharp in the PNG?

They are drawn as vector shapes at the resolution you pick, then stored without loss, so lines and labels are as clean as the DPI allows. If you plan to zoom into a dense chart, choose 300 DPI rather than relying on enlarging a smaller image later.

Why is one of my slide PNGs much larger than the rest?

That slide probably holds a full-bleed photo. PNG compresses flat color and text very well but photographs poorly, so a single photo slide can outweigh ten text slides. If that matters, convert the photo-heavy part of the deck with PPTX to JPG instead.

Can I use the PNG slides in a video editor?

Yes. Video editors import PNG sequences or single stills, and 150 DPI covers a 1080p timeline. If you would rather get a finished video with timing and transitions, a PPTX to MP4 conversion does that in one step.
