PPTX to JPG Converter

Upload a PowerPoint deck and get every slide back as its own JPG, numbered in order and bundled in one ZIP. Older .ppt files work too, so this is also a PPT to JPG converter.

How to use this tool

  1. 1

    Upload the presentation

Add a .pptx, .ppt, .pps or .ppsx file, or up to 20 decks at once, each up to 95 MB. Keynote and OpenDocument .odp files are accepted as well.

  2. 2

    Choose the resolution

Resolution is 150 DPI, which makes a widescreen slide 2000 × 1125 px. Pick 300 DPI for print or zooming, or 72 DPI for small thumbnails. Use Pages to convert only some slides.

  3. 3

    Convert to JPG

Press Convert to JPG. Each slide becomes one image, and with Download as one ZIP on, the whole deck arrives as a single download.

PPT to image: what happens to each slide

A PPTX file is a ZIP package of XML parts: one part per slide, plus the slide master, theme fonts and media. To make an image, the converter lays out each slide the way PowerPoint would, flattens text boxes, shapes, charts and pictures into a single picture, and saves that picture as a JPG. The text stops being editable, which is often the point: nobody can change a figure, and the slide looks the same on every screen.

Slide size decides the pixel size. Since PowerPoint 2013 new decks default to 16:9 widescreen, 13.333 × 7.5 inches; the older 4:3 standard is 10 × 7.5 inches. Multiply the inches by the Resolution you pick and you have the image width and height. A 1920 × 1080 Full HD frame corresponds to 144 DPI on a widescreen slide, so the 150 DPI default lands just above it.

Fonts are the one thing to watch. A deck built with a font that is not embedded falls back to a similar one when it is opened elsewhere, which can shift line breaks. In PowerPoint, File, Options, Save, Embed fonts in the file avoids that before you upload.

Convert PPT to JPG for the place the slides are going

A course platform or LMS

Many learning platforms show images inline but make a PPTX a download. Upload the JPGs as a gallery and students see the slides without opening PowerPoint. 150 DPI is plenty for a laptop screen.

A social post or carousel

Convert at 150 DPI and post the slides in order. Check the ratio first: 16:9 shows as a landscape post, so decks built for social media are often set to a square or 4:5 slide size.

A report, blog post or web page

Pick the slides you need with Page range and keep Quality at 85. If the page is slow, the JPGs can be shrunk further with an image compressor.

Print or a large display

Use 300 DPI, which gives 4000 × 2250 px for widescreen. For handouts with selectable text, PPTX to PDF keeps the deck as a document instead of pictures.

PPTX

Microsoft PowerPoint presentation

PPTX is Microsoft PowerPoint's default presentation format since Office 2007, based on the Office Open XML standard. It stores slides, layouts, images, charts, speaker notes, transitions and embedded media in a ZIP package of XML. It is the most widely used format for slide decks in business and education. Google Slides, Keynote and LibreOffice Impress open PPTX, though fonts, animations and layout may change slightly.

JPEG image

JPEG (or JPG) is the most widely used photo format, standardised by the Joint Photographic Experts Group in 1992. It uses lossy compression that discards fine detail the eye is unlikely to notice, which keeps photos small enough for the web, email and phone storage. It handles smooth gradients and natural scenes well, but sharp text, line art and flat colours pick up visible blocky or fuzzy artefacts. JPEG has no transparency and no animation, and every re-save loses a little more quality. Every browser, phone, camera and image editor can open it.

A deck needs PowerPoint or a compatible viewer to open; a set of JPGs opens on every phone and can be posted, attached or dropped into a document one slide at a time.

PPTX to JPG questions

Is this a PPT to JPG converter as well?

Yes. The older binary .ppt format from PowerPoint 97 to 2003 is accepted alongside .pptx, and so are slide-show files saved as .pps or .ppsx. The output is the same: one JPG per slide.

Why are my slide images bigger than the ones PowerPoint exports?

PowerPoint for Windows saves slides as pictures at 96 DPI by default, which gives 1280 × 720 px for a widescreen slide; Microsoft documents a registry setting called ExportBitmapResolution to raise it. Here the default is 150 DPI, so the same slide comes out at 2000 × 1125 px without any setup.

Do animations and transitions show up in the images?

No. A JPG is a single still picture, so each slide is drawn once with its content in place. Build-in effects, transitions and embedded video do not carry over. If the motion matters, a PPTX to MP4 conversion turns the deck into a video instead.

Are speaker notes included in the JPG files?

No, only the slide itself is drawn. If your audience needs the notes, export the deck as notes pages to PDF from PowerPoint first, or paste the notes into the slide before converting.

Can I post the slides as an Instagram carousel?

Yes. Instagram accepts landscape images down to a 1.91:1 ratio, and 16:9 slides at 1.78:1 fit inside that without cropping. Upload the JPGs in order as a multi-image post. Square or 4:5 portrait slides fill more of the feed; our Instagram post and story sizes guide lists the exact pixel counts.

Should I pick JPG or PNG for slides?

JPG keeps photo-heavy slides small and is accepted everywhere. Slides made of text, charts and flat color look a little sharper as PPTX to PNG, and PNG can keep a transparent background. For a dozen slides of photos, JPG is usually a fraction of the size.
