How to use this tool

  1. 1

    Add the HTML file

Upload .html, .htm or .mhtml files, up to 20 per batch and 95 MB each. A page saved as a single MHTML file carries its images and styles inside it.

  2. 2

    Set the window width

HTML page width starts at 1280 px. Use 390 px for a phone layout or 1920 px for a wide dashboard. Convert to is already PNG and Images is one long image.

  3. 3

    Convert to PNG

Press Convert to PNG. Turn on Transparent background under Advanced settings if the page has no background color of its own and the image will sit on other artwork.

Answer

How do I convert HTML to PNG?

Upload the .html or .mhtml file, set HTML page width to the screen you want to imitate, and press Convert to PNG. The whole rendered page comes back as one lossless image.

Convert HTML to PNG when text and lines must stay sharp

PNG has been a W3C Recommendation since 1996 and uses lossless compression, so the anti-aliased edges of 14 px body text, one-pixel table borders and syntax-colored code survive untouched. That is the reason developers attach PNG captures to bug reports and designers share them in reviews: nobody has to wonder whether a fuzzy edge is a CSS problem or a compression artifact.

The price is size. A page made of text and flat color compresses well; a page full of photos does not. If the capture is going into a chat or an email where size matters more than crisp detail, JPG is the smaller file. For documentation, release notes, dashboards and style guides, PNG is the safer default.

Width decides the layout. HTML has no fixed page: the same file shows a three-column desktop design at 1280 px and a single stacked column at 390 px. The converter lays the page out at the HTML page width you enter, anywhere from 320 to 3840 px, then captures it from the first line to the footer.

HTML

HyperText Markup Language

HTML is the markup language of the web, first described by Tim Berners-Lee in the early 1990s and now maintained by WHATWG as a living standard. An HTML file describes headings, paragraphs, links, tables, images and forms, while styling usually comes from CSS. Every browser renders it, and it is also used for email templates and saved web pages. A single HTML file often depends on external images and stylesheets, so it may look broken when moved on its own.

PNG

Portable Network Graphics

PNG is a lossless raster format published in 1996 by the PNG Development Group and later standardised by the W3C and ISO. It keeps every pixel exactly, supports full alpha transparency and handles text, sharp edges and flat colours without artefacts. That precision makes it ideal for screenshots, logos, icons and interface graphics. The trade-off is size: photographs saved as PNG are often several times larger than the same photo as JPEG or WebP. All browsers, operating systems and editors open PNG files.

People reach for PNG when the page is mostly text, code, tables or interface parts: lossless pixels keep thin lines and small type crisp in documentation, bug reports and design reviews where JPG artifacts would show.

Convert HTML to PNG without losing styles or fonts

A plain .html file often depends on things stored elsewhere: a stylesheet in a css folder, images on the original server, fonts from a font service. When those are missing the page falls back to unstyled text in a default typeface. Saving the page in Chrome or Edge as Webpage, Single File produces an .mhtml file that keeps the styles and images together, which is the most reliable thing to upload.

Web fonts follow the same rule. A font declared with @font-face loads only if its file can be reached; a font that exists only on your own computer is replaced with a similar one. If exact typography matters, embed the font or check the result before sending it on.

A fixed width also makes weekly captures of a report comparable side by side. When the result needs to stay selectable text for printing, HTML to PDF is the format to use instead.

HTML to PNG questions

Is HTML to PNG better than a screenshot from my own browser?

A browser screenshot only catches what fits on your screen unless you use a full-page capture tool, and its width is whatever your window happens to be. Here the width is a number you set, so two captures made weeks apart line up exactly, and the whole page is included from the first line to the footer.

Why is the PNG several times larger than the same page as JPG?

PNG stores every pixel without loss. Text and flat colors compress well that way, but photos, gradients and video posters do not, so a photo-heavy landing page can produce a large PNG. For those pages HTML to JPG is the lighter choice; for code samples, charts and UI it is usually not worth the blur.

Can the PNG have a transparent background instead of white?

Yes. Turn on Transparent background. It only shows through where the page itself sets no background color, so a site with a white body color will still come out white. It works best for a single component or badge built as its own HTML file.

Does the converter run the JavaScript on the page?

Content that a script builds when the page opens can appear, but anything that waits for a click, a scroll or a login will not. If a chart or table only exists after interaction, open the page in your browser, let it finish, and save it as a single file before uploading.

How do I make an image of only the top part of a long page?

Switch Images to one per page and set Pages to First page. You get the first page-sized section instead of the whole length. To trim it to an exact frame afterwards, use the crop image tool.
