How to use this tool
- 1
Upload the Word file
Add a .docx or .doc file, or up to 20 documents at once, each up to 95 MB. OpenDocument .odt and .rtf files work the same way.
- 2
Pick pages and resolution
Resolution starts at 150 DPI. Choose 300 DPI for print or zooming, and set Pages to a Page range such as 2-4 if you need only part of the document.
- 3
Convert to JPG
Press Convert to JPG. With Download as one ZIP on, a long report arrives as a single download instead of one file per page.
DOCX and DOC pages to JPG, one image per page
A .docx file is Office Open XML, the format Word has saved by default since Word 2007 and that was standardized as ECMA-376 and later ISO/IEC 29500. The text inside it has no fixed pages: Word works out the line and page breaks each time the file is opened, from the paper size, margins and fonts. The converter does the same layout and then photographs each finished page, so headers, footers, page numbers, tables and pictures appear exactly where they fall.
The older .doc format from Word 97 to 2003 goes through the same process. Letter-size and A4 documents keep their own proportions, and a landscape section stays landscape in its own images.
If people need to read, search or print the whole document, an image set is the wrong container; Word to PDF keeps the layout and the text together. JPG wins when the destination accepts only pictures.

Social posts

- A full portrait page is taller than Instagram's usual portrait shape, so it may be cropped or padded; see our post size guide.
Forms and listings
- Upload fields that accept only JPG or PNG take a certificate, menu or flyer page.
- Pick First page for a cover thumbnail.
Fonts that change when a Word file becomes an image
Embed unusual fonts before you upload
A font that is not inside the file and not available to the converter is replaced. Common Office fonts have look-alike substitutes with the same letter widths, so line breaks hold; decorative and brand fonts do not. Microsoft began replacing Calibri with Aptos as the default Office font in 2023, so documents from different years can use different fonts. In Word for Windows, File > Options > Save > Embed fonts in the file avoids surprises.
DOCX
Microsoft Word document
DOCX is Microsoft Word's default document format since Office 2007, based on the Office Open XML standard (ECMA-376, ISO/IEC 29500). It is a ZIP package of XML files holding text, styles, images, tables, comments and tracked changes. It is the most common format for editable documents in offices, schools and job applications. Layout can shift slightly between Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice and Pages, especially with complex formatting. Most word processors open DOCX files.

JPG
JPEG image
JPEG (or JPG) is the most widely used photo format, standardised by the Joint Photographic Experts Group in 1992. It uses lossy compression that discards fine detail the eye is unlikely to notice, which keeps photos small enough for the web, email and phone storage. It handles smooth gradients and natural scenes well, but sharp text, line art and flat colours pick up visible blocky or fuzzy artefacts. JPEG has no transparency and no animation, and every re-save loses a little more quality. Every browser, phone, camera and image editor can open it.

A Word file looks right only in an app that has the same fonts and version; a JPG of the page looks the same in every chat, feed and upload form, and nobody can edit what it says.
Word to JPG questions
Does every page of a Word document become a separate JPG?
Yes, with Images on One per page, which is the default. Files are numbered in page order so they sort correctly in any folder. Switch to One long image if you want all pages stacked into a single tall picture instead.
Will tracked changes and comments show up in the image?
They can, depending on how the document was saved. To be sure, accept or reject all changes and delete comments in Word, save, and then upload. That also stops a reviewer's notes from reaching people who should only see the final text.
Can I convert an old .doc file from Word 2003?
Yes. The binary .doc format used by Word 97 to 2003 is accepted next to .docx, as are .docm files with macros, which are not run. Very old documents with unusual fonts are the ones most likely to shift slightly.
How do I send one page of a Word document on WhatsApp?
Set Pages to Page range, enter the page number, convert and send the JPG. WhatsApp compresses photos unless you choose its HD option or send the file as a document, so pick 300 DPI if the page has small print.
Can I turn the JPG back into an editable Word file?
Not by converting it back, because the text is now pixels. Text recognition can rebuild it: JPG to Word reads the letters in the image and writes a new DOCX. Keep the original Word file whenever you still need to edit it.
