Visa Photo Maker
Visa photos are not one size: a US visa wants a 600 × 600 px square under 240 KB, a Schengen consulate a 35 × 45 mm print, and Dubai typing centers usually 43 × 55 mm on white. Pick the visa, upload one clear photo, and the crop and file size follow its rules.

Quality is lowered until the photo is at or just under this size; tiny files are padded up to the spec's minimum.
300 DPI is the print standard for passport photos; a 35×45 mm photo is then 413×531 px.
Place several copies on a 4×6 in (10×15 cm) photo print or an A4 page, ready for a photo kiosk or home printer.
How many photos on the sheet. A 4×6 in print fits 6 photos of 2×2 in or 6 of 35×45 mm; an A4 sheet fits more.
How to use this tool
- 1
Choose the visa, not the country you live in
Open Country & document and select the destination's visa preset. The page starts on the US visa spec with Limit file size at 240 KB.
- 2
Upload a front-facing photo
Use a photo taken by someone else at eye level, shoulders square, no hat. Auto-centre face places the eyes and chin for the chosen visa.
- 3
Export for the form or the consulate
Press Make for one JPG to upload, or set Print layout to a 4 × 6 in sheet when the consulate wants glued-on prints.
What size is a visa photo?
It depends on the destination: 2 × 2 in and 600 × 600 px for the US, 35 × 45 mm for Schengen, India and Singapore, 33 × 48 mm for China, 45 × 45 mm at most Japanese embassies, and about 43 × 55 mm for the UAE.

The table splits into two families. Upload-first visas (the US DS-160, the India e-Visa) judge the file: pixels, a square crop and a KB ceiling. Print-first visas (Schengen, Japan, China at most centers) judge a glued-on print, so millimeters and head height matter more than kilobytes. Each row maps to a preset; presets with a known KB window, such as China at 40–120 KB, apply Limit file size for you.

Visa photo requirements every consulate shares
Behind the size differences, almost every country builds on the ICAO portrait standard used for machine-readable travel documents: a full-face, front-on photo, eyes open, neutral expression, even lighting and no hats except for religious or medical reasons. Recency is usually six months; Singapore asks for three and the UK passport office for one.
Glasses are where countries split. The US has refused them since 2016, while Canada still accepts clear lenses without glare. Applying to several countries in one month? Take the photo once without glasses and crop it per destination.

Visa photo questions
What is the standard visa photo size?
There is no single standard. Most of Europe, India, Singapore and many Asian consulates use 35 × 45 mm, the US uses 2 × 2 in (51 × 51 mm), China uses 33 × 48 mm and the UAE commonly uses 43 × 55 mm. Always size the photo for the country issuing the visa.
What is the Europe visa photo size?
Schengen consulates ask for 35 × 45 mm in color, with the face filling roughly 70–80% of the height and a plain light background. The same print works for all Schengen states, though individual consulates add details, so see Schengen visa photo size for the head measurements.
What are the Dubai visa photo requirements?
UAE visa applications made through typing centers and online portals usually ask for a recent color photo, 43 × 55 mm, on a white background, face straight to the camera. Upload limits differ between the ICP and GDRFA portals, so check the current guidance on the portal you use.
Do I need a photo for a visa I apply for at a visa center?
Sometimes not. The UK, for example, takes your photo at the biometric appointment for most visas, and other visa centers may capture a live image too. Read your appointment letter before you print anything.
Why was my visa photo rejected online?
The upload checker usually reports one of three things: wrong pixel dimensions, a file over the KB limit, or a face that is too small or off-center. Fix the size with the preset, then use Limit file size; for a general shrink, compress image to 100 KB does the same job for any picture.
