Files are processed on our servers and deleted after 30 minutes.
85 keeps photos visually identical to the original. Lower it only when you need a smaller file.
JPG, BMP and EPS have no transparency. Transparent pixels are filled with this color.
Hex color used behind transparent pixels, e.g. #FFFFFF.
This format holds a single image. Choose GIF or WebP output if you want to keep the animation.
A multi-size icon contains several resolutions in one file; browsers and operating systems pick the one they need.
Keep the original dimensions, or enter one side and the aspect ratio is kept.
Pixels for the side you chose above.
Percentage of the original dimensions.
sRGB is right for screens and the web. Keep the original for print workflows; grayscale discards color.
Metadata only, 0 keeps the original value. Printers and some portals read this number; it does not change pixel dimensions.
How to use this tool
- 1
Add the ORF files
Drop up to 20 .ORF files from the card or a backup folder. Each file may be up to 95 MB, which includes High Res Shot raws.
- 2
Set the output
Quality starts at 90. To make smaller copies for sharing, open Advanced settings and set Resize output image to a longest side of 2048 px.
- 3
Convert and save
Press Convert to JPG and download the JPGs one by one or as a single ZIP.
An ORF is the Micro Four Thirds raw file from Olympus and OM System cameras. A JPG is what everyone else can open. One pass here develops the raw and saves a quality 90 JPEG.
ORF
Olympus Raw Format
Olympus Raw Format (ORF) is the raw image format written by Olympus and OM System cameras. It is used by Olympus and OM System Micro Four Thirds cameras. A raw file stores the sensor data before the camera applies white balance, sharpening and compression, which leaves far more room to recover highlights, shadows and colour when editing. Files are large and cannot be shared directly on websites, social networks or most phones. Lightroom, Capture One, darktable and the manufacturer's own software open them, but plain image viewers often show only a small embedded preview or nothing at all.

JPG
JPEG image
JPEG (or JPG) is the most widely used photo format, standardised by the Joint Photographic Experts Group in 1992. It uses lossy compression that discards fine detail the eye is unlikely to notice, which keeps photos small enough for the web, email and phone storage. It handles smooth gradients and natural scenes well, but sharp text, line art and flat colours pick up visible blocky or fuzzy artefacts. JPEG has no transparency and no animation, and every re-save loses a little more quality. Every browser, phone, camera and image editor can open it.

Olympus and OM System owners convert ORF to JPG to share raw-only shoots from a machine without OM Workspace, or to send prints and previews to people whose phones cannot read raw files.
Why ORF files are hard to open outside a raw editor
ORF stands for Olympus Raw Format. Every new body changes the file slightly, so operating systems and editors need an update before they recognize it. A brand-new camera paired with an older Windows or macOS install often shows ORF files as blank icons, and phone galleries generally ignore them. Olympus's own answer is OM Workspace, a free desktop program; capable, but not something you want to install on every computer.
The images themselves are typically 20 megapixels, the resolution of the E-M1 Mark III, OM-5 and OM-1, recorded at 12 bits per channel. That is fine for raw editing, but most of the data is unnecessary for a photo you just want to send. The JPG keeps the full resolution and the as-shot white balance while dropping to a file several times smaller.
Panasonic Lumix cameras share the Micro Four Thirds mount but write their own raw format; for those, use RW2 to JPG. If you have raw files from several brands mixed in one folder, the general raw to JPG page accepts them together.
Olympus High Res Shot raws
- High Res Shotsensor-shift high resolution · pixel shift
- A mode on OM-D and OM System bodies that moves the sensor between several exposures and merges them into one higher-resolution ORF, for example around 50 MP handheld or 80 MP on a tripod with the OM-1. These files are converted like any other ORF, at their full merged size.

Olympus ORF conversion questions
Do OM System cameras still make ORF files?
Yes. Olympus moved its camera business to OM Digital Solutions in January 2021, and newer bodies carry the OM System name, starting with the OM-1 in 2022. The raw files kept the .ORF extension, so the same converter handles an E-M5 from 2012 and an OM-1 Mark II.
Why does my ORF look darker or flatter than the camera's JPG?
The camera applies its Picture Mode, contrast curve and noise reduction when it writes a JPG. A raw converter starts from the sensor data with neutral settings, so the result can look a little flatter. Adjust it afterwards in any editor, or use OM Workspace if you need the exact in-camera look.
Can I convert High Res Shot ORF files?
Yes, as long as each file is under 95 MB. The merged High Res Shot raw is converted at its full resolution, so the JPG is large too; use the resize option if it only needs to go on a screen.
Is ORF to JPG lossy?
Yes, once. The JPG stores 8 bits per channel and uses lossy compression, while the ORF stores 12-bit raw data. At quality 90 the photo looks the same, but keep the ORF if you might edit exposure or white balance later.
Can I just rename .orf to .jpg?
No. Renaming changes only the label, not the data, so viewers will refuse the file or show an error. The raw sensor data has to be developed and encoded as JPEG, which is what this page does.
