UPI QR Code Generator
Enter your UPI ID and the name customers should see, and get a QR code that any UPI app can scan to pay you. Leave the amount at zero for a counter or stall code, or fix it for a single bill, a fee or a donation of a set value.
QR Code Generator
UPI ID is required.
Nothing is uploaded; the code is generated for you to download.
Width and height of the PNG in pixels. 1000 px prints sharply up to about 8 cm; vector formats ignore this.
Blank border around the code, counted in modules (the small squares). Scanners need at least 4 on a busy background.
Higher levels still scan when part of the code is dirty or covered by a logo, but the pattern becomes denser.
Keep it dark. Light codes on dark backgrounds fail on many older phone cameras.
Needs strong contrast with the code color; white is the safest choice.

What is a UPI QR code?
A QR code that holds a UPI payment link: your UPI ID, your name and optionally an amount. Scanning it opens the payer's UPI app with those details filled in, and they confirm with their UPI PIN.
How a UPI payment QR code works
UPI, the Unified Payments Interface, is run by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and launched in 2016. Every UPI account has a virtual payment address, the UPI ID, in the form name@bank. A UPI QR code does not contain any bank account number or secret; it carries a short text string in NPCI's link format that tells the payer's app whom to pay and, optionally, how much.
What makes it a payment code is the upi://pay prefix: UPI apps recognise it and open the payment screen instead of a browser. The code keeps working for as long as the UPI ID stays active.
- UPI payment stringUPI deep link · UPI intent link
- The text inside the code, for example
upi://pay?pa=sharmastores@okaxis&pn=Sharma%20Stores&am=250.00&cu=INR. pa is the payee UPI ID, pn the payee name, am the amount in rupees (left out when the payer should type it) and cu the currency, which is always INR. Payment links can also carry tn, a transaction note.
Static vs dynamic UPI QR codes
Open amount
One code for every payment. The payer types what they owe.
- Print once, use for years
- No setup beyond a UPI ID
- Payer can enter a wrong amount
Fixed amount
The amount is written into the code and filled in automatically.
- No typing mistakes
- A new code for every price
- Good for a single invoice or entry fee
Per-transaction code
Generated by a payment gateway or POS for each order, with a unique reference.
- Automatic reconciliation
- Needs a merchant integration
- Code expires after the order

Where to place your UPI QR code
On a counter, print the code at least 5 cm wide, laminate it and tape it flat; curled cards are hard to scan. Write the payee name and UPI ID underneath, so people can type the ID if their camera fails. For a website or invoice, a 1000 px PNG is plenty; if a form wants a small file, reduce the image size in KB after downloading.
Need other kinds of codes too, such as a menu link or Wi-Fi access for customers? The main QR code generator makes those with the same settings, and the bulk QR code generator handles a list of links in one go.
UPI QR code questions
How do I create a UPI QR code for my shop without a merchant account?
Enter the UPI ID linked to the bank account that should receive the money and your shop name, leave the amount at 0 and generate. Customers pay it like a normal transfer. Merchant QR codes from banks add sound-box alerts and settlement reports, but you do not need one to receive UPI payments.
Which apps can scan this UPI QR code?
Every app on the UPI network: Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM, Amazon Pay and the UPI features in bank apps. UPI is interoperable by design, so a code built on one bank's ID is payable from any other UPI app.
Do I need to scan a QR code to receive money?
No, and this is a common scam. Receiving a UPI payment never requires you to scan a code or enter your UPI PIN. If someone sends you a QR code and asks you to scan it to "receive" money, scanning it will pay them instead.
What is the maximum amount in a UPI QR code?
The Amount field accepts up to ₹5,00,000. Whether the payment goes through depends on NPCI and bank limits: most UPI payments are capped at ₹1,00,000 per transaction, with higher caps for some categories such as tax payments, and banks may set lower daily limits.
Can I put my UPI QR code on a printed banner?
Yes. Choose SVG, PDF or EPS so the code stays sharp at any size, keep Error correction at Medium or higher and leave the quiet zone around it. The PNG to SVG guide explains why vector files print cleaner on large formats.
