GMT to CET time
Central Europe is one hour ahead of the UK in every season: 8:00 PM in London is 9:00 PM in Paris, Madrid or Milan. Because both change clocks on the same weekend, the difference stays at exactly one hour.

Weekends, ski trips and football
For British travelers, the extra hour shows up at both ends of a short trip. A 7:00 AM flight from Gatwick to Geneva takes about an hour and a half, and you land at around 9:30 AM local time, which suits ski transfers to the Alps. Coming home, a 6:00 PM departure from Barcelona lands in London a little after 7:00 PM, almost the same clock time as when you left.
UEFA's Champions League evening matches start at 9:00 PM Central European time, so they kick off at 8:00 PM in the UK; the early games at 6:45 PM CET start at 5:45 PM UK time. European league fixtures listed in local time always need one hour subtracting for British viewers.

What if the EU stopped changing clocks?
In 2019 the European Parliament voted to end the seasonal clock change, leaving each country to choose permanent summer or winter time. The plan has stalled among member states, so for now the EU still changes twice a year. If it ever goes ahead, the UK would decide separately, and Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland could end up on different clocks for part of the year.
Until then, the one-hour rule holds every day. To convert any UK time to another region, use the time zone converter.
