Press Convert to PPTX (PowerPoint), open the deck in PowerPoint, Keynote or Google Slides, and apply a theme or adjust slide breaks before you present.

When a web page has to become a PowerPoint deck

A lot of presentation material is born in the browser. Developers write talks in reveal.js, the HTML slide framework Hakim El Hattab released in 2011; documentation teams keep training content in a wiki; analysts publish reports as HTML dashboards. All of that works until someone says the session runs from the organizer's laptop, the slides must be uploaded as .pptx by Friday, or the client wants to edit the deck themselves.

Rebuilding by copy and paste is slow because every paste drags web styling into PowerPoint. Converting the saved HTML file gives a deck where each section already sits on its own slides and text stays text you can edit. If the content should become a document rather than slides, HTML to Word keeps the same structure in pages instead.

How HTML elements map to slides

  1. Headings

h1 and h2 text starts a slide and becomes its title placeholder.

  2. Text, lists and tables

Paragraphs and ul/ol lists become bullets; table markup becomes a PowerPoint table.

  3. Pictures

Images present in the saved page are placed on the slide where they appeared in the text.

HTML

HyperText Markup Language

HTML is the markup language of the web, first described by Tim Berners-Lee in the early 1990s and now maintained by WHATWG as a living standard. An HTML file describes headings, paragraphs, links, tables, images and forms, while styling usually comes from CSS. Every browser renders it, and it is also used for email templates and saved web pages. A single HTML file often depends on external images and stylesheets, so it may look broken when moved on its own.

PPTX

Microsoft PowerPoint presentation

PPTX is Microsoft PowerPoint's default presentation format since Office 2007, based on the Office Open XML standard. It stores slides, layouts, images, charts, speaker notes, transitions and embedded media in a ZIP package of XML. It is the most widely used format for slide decks in business and education. Google Slides, Keynote and LibreOffice Impress open PPTX, though fonts, animations and layout may change slightly.

PPTX converter

HTML goes to PPTX when content written for the browser has to be presented in a room: a reveal.js talk that must run on a conference laptop, a wiki page that becomes a training deck, or a web report a manager wants as slides.

What an HTML to PowerPoint conversion does not do

MythTransitions and fragments from an HTML deck come along.

FactThose effects are CSS and JavaScript running in the browser. The PPTX gets the content; add PowerPoint transitions afterwards in the Transitions tab.

MythThe PPTX is a screenshot of the page on each slide.

FactText arrives as real text boxes and tables as real tables, so you can fix a typo without re-converting.

MythA slide size has to be chosen before converting.

FactYou can switch between 16:9 and 4:3 at any time in PowerPoint under Design, Slide Size.

HTML to PPTX questions

Can I paste a web address instead of uploading a file?

No, the converter works on files. Save the page from your browser first; that also guarantees the deck shows exactly the version of the page you saw, not one that changed overnight.

How does a long web page get divided into slides?

Headings mark where a new slide starts, and the heading text becomes the slide title. A section with a lot of text continues on the next slide rather than shrinking to an unreadable size, so expect to merge or trim a few slides afterwards.

What happens to embedded videos and iframes?

A YouTube player or any other iframe loads its content from another site, so it is not inside the saved HTML file and does not appear on the slide. Add the video afterwards in PowerPoint with Insert, Video, Online Videos, and the clip plays during the presentation when the computer is online.

Do Keynote and Google Slides open the PPTX?

Yes. Keynote imports PPTX directly, and Google Slides converts it when you open it from Google Drive. Both keep text, images and tables editable.

Why choose PPTX over PDF for a talk built in HTML?

A PDF freezes every slide, which is fine as a handout. A PPTX lets a co-presenter change wording, reorder slides, add speaker notes and use PowerPoint's presenter view, and it still exports to PDF later.

What if the venue still runs PowerPoint 2003?

Use HTML to PPT, which writes the PowerPoint 97–2003 format those versions open. Current PowerPoint opens both.
