HTML to PPT Converter

A web page or an HTML slide deck needs a browser, and often an internet connection, to show itself. Converting the HTML to PPT turns its text, tables and images into PowerPoint slides you can rearrange, annotate and present from any laptop.

How to use this tool

  1. 1

Save the page as a single .html file

Upload up to 20 .html or .htm files of up to 95 MB each. Pages saved as one file with images inside, or images loaded from full web addresses, convert most completely.

  2. 2

    Choose PPT or PPTX

Convert to starts on PPT, the PowerPoint 97–2003 format. Switch to PPTX if everyone uses PowerPoint 2007 or later, Google Slides or Keynote.

  3. 3

    Convert and tidy the slides

Press Convert to PPT, open the file in PowerPoint and apply a theme from the Design tab so every slide picks up your fonts and colors.

Upload the .html file and press Convert to PPT. Headings, paragraphs, lists, tables and images arrive as editable PowerPoint content, while scripts and page layout are left behind.

HTML to PPT: from a browser tab to a slide deck

Plenty of presentations are now written as web pages. reveal.js, the open-source HTML presentation framework Hakim El Hattab released in 2011, lets developers write slides in HTML or Markdown, and many reporting and analytics tools export results as standalone HTML files. Those work well on the author's laptop and badly elsewhere: a conference PC may block the browser, the venue Wi-Fi may fail, and a colleague who wants to change one chart cannot edit code.

PowerPoint solves the handoff. A .ppt file runs offline, lets anyone drag content around and fits into the slide templates that companies and schools already use. HTML itself, maintained as a living standard by WHATWG since the W3C's HTML5 Recommendation of 2014, describes structure rather than slides, so the converter keeps that structure, headings, text, tables and pictures, and you shape the slides afterwards.

Going in the other direction, or need the old format for a legacy machine? PPTX to PPT downgrades an existing modern deck.

HTML

HyperText Markup Language

HTML is the markup language of the web, first described by Tim Berners-Lee in the early 1990s and now maintained by WHATWG as a living standard. An HTML file describes headings, paragraphs, links, tables, images and forms, while styling usually comes from CSS. Every browser renders it, and it is also used for email templates and saved web pages. A single HTML file often depends on external images and stylesheets, so it may look broken when moved on its own.

PPT

Microsoft PowerPoint 97–2003 presentation

PPT is the binary presentation format used by PowerPoint from PowerPoint 97 until PPTX replaced it in 2007. It stores slides, images, notes and animations in a proprietary structure, and files tend to be larger than PPTX. Newer PowerPoint features cannot be saved in it. PowerPoint, LibreOffice and Google Slides still open PPT files.

HTML is turned into PPT when content made for the web, a report, a dashboard export or a browser-based slide deck, has to be presented offline in PowerPoint or handed to someone who edits slides rather than code.

Preparing a web page so the slides come out clean

  1. Save one self-contained file

Use your browser's single-file save option or a tool that inlines images, so pictures travel inside the .html instead of a side folder.

  2. Strip what you will not present

Navigation bars, cookie banners and footers become slide content too. Delete them from the HTML, or copy only the article section into a new file.

  3. Keep sections short

A page with clear headings and a few paragraphs per section maps to readable slides. Long unbroken articles turn into dense text you will have to split by hand.

  4. Replace live widgets

Charts drawn by JavaScript are not rendered. Export them as PNG images and reference those in the HTML before converting.

HTML to PPT questions

Can I convert a reveal.js presentation to PowerPoint?

Yes, upload the deck's .html file. Static content, headings, bullet lists, code blocks and images converts; reveal.js fragments, auto-animate and other JavaScript-driven effects do not, because PowerPoint does not run a page's scripts.

Why are the images missing from my converted slides?

The HTML file probably points to images in a separate folder, such as the _files folder a browser creates with Save Page As. Upload a single-file save, or a page whose images use full https:// addresses, so the converter can reach them.

Should I choose PPT or PPTX for an HTML page?

PPTX unless an old system demands the 97–2003 format. The HTML to PPTX page has the same settings with the newer format preselected; Google Slides and Keynote import either one.

Does the CSS styling of the page carry over?

Colors, bold, italics, font sizes and table borders do. Layout built with flexbox, grid or absolute positioning has no slide equivalent, so blocks arrive stacked and you rearrange them on the slide.

Can PowerPoint open an HTML file directly?

Not as a presentation. Current PowerPoint opens .ppt, .pptx and .odp, among others, but not web pages. Microsoft also removed the old Save as Web Page option in PowerPoint 2013, so the route between the two formats now runs through a converter.

I only want to share the page, not edit it. Which format?

A PDF is simpler. HTML to PDF prints the page as it appears in a browser, links included, without splitting it into slides.
