Resize Image to 300 × 300 Pixels
300 × 300 px is the size of the small square: a product thumbnail in a shop grid, a forum avatar, a photo field on a web form. This page turns any picture into that square, cropped around the subject, in the format you uploaded.

Applies when both sides are set or the shape changes. Fit inside keeps everything and may come out smaller on one side; crop fills the frame exactly; pad adds borders; stretch distorts.
Which part of the image is kept when cropping. Smart keeps the busiest area, usually a face or the main subject.
Color of the borders added around the image, e.g. #FFFFFF for white.
Pixels per inch used to turn cm, mm or inches into pixels and written into the file. 300 is standard for print, 200 for most online forms.
Same as input keeps the original format. Pick GIF or WebP to keep an animation, PNG for transparency.
Applies to JPG, WebP and AVIF. 85 looks identical to the original for photos.
Quality is lowered until the resized file is at or just under this size.
How to use this tool
- 1
Upload one image or a set
Add up to 20 JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC or GIF files. Product shots, headshots and logos of any shape are fine.
- 2
Keep 300 × 300 px
Width and Height are 300 px with Fit on Crop to fill and Crop position on Smart. To keep the whole picture instead, choose Pad with color and a background.
- 3
Resize and download
Press Resize. Each file keeps its original format unless you change Output format, and a PNG with transparency stays transparent.
A 300 px square is small enough to load instantly in a grid of fifty and large enough to show a face or a product clearly. Most people need it because a website, a shop theme or a form asks for exactly that.
Where 300 × 300 pixel images are used
| Organisation | Requirement | Source |
|---|---|---|
| WordPress media library | The Medium image size defaults to a maximum of 300 × 300 px (Settings → Media), so themes often request this size. | — |
| WooCommerce shop pages | Product thumbnails default to 300 px wide, cropped to 1:1, since WooCommerce 3.3; themes can change it. | — |
| Forums and email signatures | Avatar and signature image fields commonly accept squares of around 300 px; check the field's own hint. | — |
| Marketplace listings | Not enough for the main image: Amazon asks for 1000 px or more on the longest side so zoom works. | — |
Exact squares matter more than they seem. When a shop theme or a CMS receives a 4000 × 3000 phone photo for a 300 px slot, it either crops it with no idea where the product is or shrinks it whole and leaves odd gaps in the grid. Sending a file that is already 300 × 300 px removes the guesswork and also saves bandwidth, since a square that size is a small fraction of the original's weight.
WordPress is the clearest example. Its default Medium size is up to 300 × 300 px, meaning the longer side is capped at 300 and the shape is kept, so a landscape upload becomes 300 × 225, not a square. WooCommerce, which runs on WordPress, crops its catalog thumbnails to 1:1 instead. If your grid looks uneven, upload pre-cut squares from this page and every tile lines up.
Need a larger square from the same originals? Run the batch again at a different size; resize image to 512×512 suits app icons and stickers.
Getting a sharp photo at 300 × 300
Crop tight
Fill the square with the subject; small details vanish at 300 px.
Start large
Shrinking a big original keeps edges crisp; enlarging a small one blurs them.
Plain background
White or one flat color reads cleanly in a grid of thumbnails.
Quality 85
Enough for a thumbnail; lower values add blocky edges around text.
300 × 300 pixel questions
How do I resize a photo to 300 × 300 without stretching it?
Leave Fit on Crop to fill: the image is scaled until it covers the square and the extra width or height is trimmed, so faces and round products keep their shape. Stretch to exact size is the only option that distorts, and it is never the default.
How many KB is a 300 × 300 image?
A 300 × 300 JPG at quality 85 typically lands somewhere around 15 to 40 KB, depending on detail; a PNG of a photo can be several times that. If a form caps the file, tick Limit file size and enter the KB value, or follow our guide to reducing image size in KB.
Is 300 × 300 px enough for a product listing?
For a thumbnail, yes; for the main listing image, no. Amazon asks for at least 1000 px on the longest side for zoom, and most marketplaces recommend similar sizes. Keep the large original for the listing and use this page for the grid thumbnail.
Will a 300 px square print well?
Only very small. At 300 DPI, 300 px is exactly one inch, about 2.5 cm. That suits a sticker or a badge, not a photo print; for 2 × 2 in prints use resize image to 600×600.
Can I make 300 × 300 thumbnails for a whole product catalog?
Yes, up to 20 images per batch, each cut to the same square. With Crop position on Smart the tool looks for the product rather than the geometric center, which helps with photos shot on a wide white table.
My logo has a transparent background. Will it stay transparent?
Yes, as long as Output format stays on Same as input or is set to PNG or WebP. With Pad with color the padding becomes that color; pick Crop to fill or Fit inside to avoid adding a background.
