PDF to A4 Size Converter
Scanned packets rarely come out at one page size. This converter puts every page on an exact A4 sheet, so a portal that checks page size accepts the file and the pages line up when printed.

Fit shrinks or enlarges the content so the whole page shows, leaving white edges if proportions differ. Fill covers the page and may crop edges. Keep size does not scale.
Where content sits on the new page when it does not cover it fully.
White border kept around the content on every side. 0 uses the full page; printers usually need about 5 mm.
Page numbers or ranges separated by commas, e.g. 1, 3-5.
How to use this tool
- 1
Upload the scanned PDF
Add up to 20 PDFs of up to 95 MB each, straight from a phone scanner app, a copier or your downloads folder.
- 2
Keep A4 and Scale to fit
Every page is fitted onto 210 × 297 mm with no margin, and landscape pages stay landscape. Set Orientation to Portrait if every sheet must be upright.
- 3
Resize and upload
Press Resize and download. Every page now reports A4 in the file's document properties.
A PDF assembled from phone scans can have a different size on every page. Converting it to A4 leaves what is on the pages alone and gives them all the same sheet.
Why scanned PDFs end up with mixed page sizes
Scanner apps crop to the edges they detect. The document scanner in the iPhone Notes app, added with iOS 11 in 2017, and the scan feature in Google Drive for Android both trim each photo to the outline of the paper, so a skewed receipt comes out narrow and tall and a letter shot from a distance comes out at its own odd size. Some apps let you choose A4 as the output; many keep the detected shape. A packet that mixes phone scans, copier pages and downloaded forms carries every one of those sizes into a single file.
Upload portals then compare. Visa, university and government systems in many countries print or archive submissions on A4, and some check page dimensions on upload. Even where nothing is checked, mixed sizes print at different scales and look careless in a reviewer's file.

Phone-scanned PDF problems an A4 conversion fixes
The portal says the page size is invalid
The pages are near A4 but not exact, typical of phone scans. Convert with New page size on A4 and every page reports 210 × 297 mm.
A small receipt now fills a whole A4 page
Scale to fit enlarges small pages to the sheet. Switch Content to Keep size so it stays at its real size, and set Position to Top centre.
A landscape table comes out tiny
Leave Orientation on Auto so landscape pages get a landscape A4 sheet instead of being shrunk onto a portrait one.
The file is now too large for the portal
Resizing does not shrink images. If the portal also caps file size, follow up with compress PDF to 200 KB.
Dark scan edges show around the content
They belong to the scanned image, not to the page size. Fill page trims a little from two edges, which often removes them.
The A series began as the German standard DIN 476 in 1922 and became ISO 216 in 1975. Its 1:√2 proportion means A4 halves into two A5 sheets and doubles into A3 without changing shape, which is why A sizes convert into each other with no white bands, while an odd phone-scan page always needs Scale to fit or Fill page to decide what happens to the difference.
If your source is a set of photos rather than a PDF, image to A4 size PDF builds A4 pages directly. For a US Letter document headed for a printer abroad, resize PDF to A4 adds a print margin and explains the scaling.
Before you upload
- Convert the whole packet in one run so every page shares one setting.
- Keep Scale to fit for documents and Keep size for small receipts.
- Resizing never adds or drops pages; the page count stays the same.
- Compress after resizing if the portal also caps file size.
PDF to A4 size questions
How do I check that every page of my PDF is A4?
In Acrobat Reader, File, then Properties shows the page size of the current page; A4 reads 210 × 297 mm or 8.27 × 11.69 in. Step through a few pages, since a mixed file differs page by page. After conversion every page reports the same size.
Will converting a scan to A4 make it blurry?
No. The scanned image is placed on the new sheet with its pixels intact, so a 300 DPI scan stays as sharp as it was. Only a small page enlarged a lot, such as a receipt filled out to A4, shows its original resolution more plainly.
Can I convert only the pages that are not A4?
Yes. Choose Selected pages under Apply to and type the numbers, such as 2, 5-7. Pages that are already A4 are unchanged either way, because fitting A4 onto A4 with no margin leaves them as they were.
Does the converter straighten skewed phone scans?
No. It changes the sheet each page sits on, not the image, so a tilted photo stays tilted on its new A4 page. Straighten in your scanner app before exporting, or rescan with the paper flat and well lit.
Why do upload portals insist on A4 instead of Letter?
A4 is the standard paper size in almost every country outside the US, Canada and parts of Latin America, so offices that print, stamp or archive submissions load A4. A Letter page printed there gets rescaled or loses its edges.
