Resize PDF Pages
Change the paper size of a PDF so it prints without cut-off edges or shrunken text, or so every page in a document finally matches. The content is scaled and placed the way you choose; nothing is retyped or re-rendered.

Fit shrinks or enlarges the content so the whole page shows, leaving white edges if proportions differ. Fill covers the page and may crop edges. Keep size does not scale.
Where content sits on the new page when it does not cover it fully.
White border kept around the content on every side. 0 uses the full page; printers usually need about 5 mm.
Page numbers or ranges separated by commas, e.g. 1, 3-5.
How to use this tool
- 1
Upload the PDF
Add up to 20 PDFs, each up to 95 MB. All of them get the same new page size.
- 2

Pick a size in New page size, or Custom with Width, Height and Unit. Under Advanced settings, decide how content is placed, the margin and which pages to change.
- 3
Resize and download
Press Resize and download the PDF with its new page size, ready to print or submit.
Resizing a PDF changes the sheet each page is printed on, then scales and positions the existing content on it; text stays text and vectors stay sharp.

Why change the page size of a PDF
Two paper systems dominate. The A series of ISO 216, with A4 at 210 × 297 mm, is used almost everywhere; North America uses US Letter at 8.5 × 11 in and Legal at 8.5 × 14 in. Letter is about 6 mm wider and 18 mm shorter than A4, which is just enough to cause trouble: a Letter document printed on A4 loses its side edges or comes out shifted, and an A4 document printed on Letter loses its footer.
Upload portals add their own rules. Many government, visa and university systems ask for A4 pages, while US courts and agencies expect Letter, and a PDF assembled from phone scans, receipts and downloaded forms usually contains several sizes at once. Resizing every page to the size the recipient asks for prevents rejected uploads and printing surprises, and it makes a merged packet look like one document. Combine the files first with merge PDF and then resize the result, or use the page size setting inside the merge tool.
A-series sheets all share the proportion 1:√2, so A5, A4 and A3 scale into each other without white bars. Moving between A and US sizes changes the proportion, which is why the Content setting matters.
Position applies whenever the content does not cover the new sheet: Centre spreads the white space evenly, Top centre and Top left keep a letterhead in its usual place, and Bottom centre suits pages whose important part is a signature or total at the bottom. Margin, from 0 to 100 mm, reserves a white border on every side before the content is placed, so a 10 mm margin on A4 leaves a 190 × 277 mm area for the scaled page.
If you are preparing a document for an A4-only system, PDF to A4 size converter opens with A4 selected and every page included.
Scale to fit, fill page or keep size
The default. Content is scaled until the whole original page fits inside the new one, keeping its proportions. Where the shapes differ, white space appears on two sides.
- Nothing is ever cut off
- Letter to A4: about 97% scale
- A4 to Letter: about 94% scale
Content is scaled until it covers the entire new page. Where the proportions differ, a little is cropped from two edges.
- No white bars
- Good for full-bleed images and posters
- Check that page numbers near edges survive
Content is not scaled. The original page is placed on the new sheet at 100%, with extra white space on a larger sheet or cropping on a smaller one.
- Text stays exactly the same physical size
- Good for adding space for binding or notes
- Position decides where the content sits
TipAdd a Margin of about 5 mm when the PDF will go to an office printer; most cannot print to the very edge, and the margin keeps content out of that unprintable band.
Resized pages look wrong? Settings to check
- Position is on Centre, not Top centre or Top left, so the white space is spread evenly instead of collecting below the content
- Content is on Scale to fit when nothing may be cut off; Fill page, or Keep size on a smaller sheet, trims the edges
- Orientation is on Auto (match page), so landscape pages get the landscape version of the new size instead of becoming tiny
- The print dialog is set to Actual size or 100%; fit to printable area shrinks the resized page all over again
Resize PDF questions
How do I change a PDF from Letter to A4?
Upload the file, choose A4 in New page size and keep Content on Scale to fit. The page content is scaled to about 97% so the slightly wider Letter page fits A4's width, with a thin white band added at top and bottom. The dedicated resize PDF to A4 page starts with these settings.
Does resizing PDF pages reduce the file size?
No. This tool changes the paper size, not the amount of data. To make the file smaller in KB or MB, which many people also call resizing, use compress PDF instead.
Will text get blurry when I resize a PDF page?
Text and vector graphics are scaled mathematically and stay sharp at any size. Scanned pages are images, so enlarging them a lot, for example A5 to A3, makes the existing pixels bigger without adding detail.
Why does my resized page have white bars on two sides?
The old and new sizes have different proportions, and Scale to fit keeps the whole page visible. Choose Fill page to cover the new page completely, accepting that a little of the content at the edges is cropped.
Can I resize only some pages of a PDF?
Yes. Set Apply to to Selected pages and type the pages in Page range, for example 1, 3-5. Use this to bring a single oversized drawing or a scanned receipt into line with the rest of the document.
Can I set an exact custom page size in millimeters or inches?
Choose Custom in New page size, then enter Width and Height and pick mm, cm or in under Unit. Values from 1 to 5,000 units are accepted, which covers business cards up to large-format posters.
How do I keep each page's orientation when resizing?
Leave Orientation on Auto (match page). Portrait pages stay portrait and landscape pages become the landscape version of the new size, so a wide spreadsheet page is not squeezed into a tall frame.
Can I make every page in a mixed PDF the same size?
Yes. Leave Apply to on All pages and pick one size, for example A4. Pages of every original size, from receipts to Legal contracts, are scaled onto identical sheets, and Orientation on Auto keeps landscape pages wide. The result prints and binds as one uniform document.
