85 keeps photos visually identical to the original. Lower it only when you need a smaller file.
JPG, BMP and EPS have no transparency. Transparent pixels are filled with this color.
Hex color used behind transparent pixels, e.g. #FFFFFF.
This format holds a single image. Choose GIF or WebP output if you want to keep the animation.
A multi-size icon contains several resolutions in one file; browsers and operating systems pick the one they need.
Keep the original dimensions, or enter one side and the aspect ratio is kept.
Pixels for the side you chose above.
Percentage of the original dimensions.
sRGB is right for screens and the web. Keep the original for print workflows; grayscale discards color.
Metadata only, 0 keeps the original value. Printers and some portals read this number; it does not change pixel dimensions.
How to use this tool
- 1
Add images in any format
Drop up to 20 files at once, 95 MB each. Formats can be mixed: HEIC, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, TIFF, SVG, PSD, EPS and RAW files from Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm and others are all accepted.
- 2
Leave the JPG settings or adjust them
Output is JPG at Quality 85 in sRGB color. Any transparent areas are filled with white; pick black or a custom color under Transparent areas. Use Resize output image if the files also need to be smaller in pixels.

Convert and collect
Press Convert to JPG. Every file comes back as its own .jpg, and a batch arrives as one ZIP.
JPG is the format nearly every phone, computer, printer and website opens without question. If you are not sure what format you need, this is usually it.
Why convert an image to JPG at all
Pictures arrive in more formats than ever. An iPhone saves HEIC by default since iOS 11 (2017), websites hand you WebP or AVIF when you save an image, screenshots are PNG, scanners like TIFF, and cameras write their own RAW files. Each of those works fine where it was made and fails somewhere else: a job portal that lists only JPG, a Windows PC without the HEIF extension, a print kiosk, a client who opens attachments in an old version of Office.
JPEG has been the common denominator since the early 1990s. It is supported by every browser, every operating system, every office suite and practically every upload form,.
When a single format is the problem, the dedicated pages explain its quirks: HEIC to JPG for iPhone photos and PNG to JPG for screenshots and graphics. This page is for everything at once.

JPG
JPEG image
JPEG (or JPG) is the most widely used photo format, standardised by the Joint Photographic Experts Group in 1992. It uses lossy compression that discards fine detail the eye is unlikely to notice, which keeps photos small enough for the web, email and phone storage. It handles smooth gradients and natural scenes well, but sharp text, line art and flat colours pick up visible blocky or fuzzy artefacts. JPEG has no transparency and no animation, and every re-save loses a little more quality. Every browser, phone, camera and image editor can open it.

People turn an image of any format into JPG when they need one file type that every device, editor and upload form opens; turning a JPG into another format is usually about transparency, editing or web size.
What changes when a picture becomes a JPG
Transparency is filled
JPG has no alpha channel. Transparent PNG, WebP, HEIC or PSD areas become white, black or a custom color you choose.
Animation keeps one frame
Animated GIF, WebP or AVIF files become a still JPG of the first frame, or one JPG per frame if you choose that under Animated input.
Color depth drops to 8 bits
Baseline JPEG stores 8 bits per channel. A 16-bit TIFF or a 10-bit HDR HEIC is reduced to 8 bits, which is fine for viewing and sharing but not for heavy editing.
Layers and vectors are flattened
PSD layers merge into one picture and SVG or EPS drawings are rendered to pixels at their own size. Keep the source file if you will edit it again.
Location data is removed
Strip metadata is on by default, so GPS position and camera details are not carried into the JPG. Untick it if you need them.
Size usually changes
From PNG, BMP, TIFF or RAW the JPG is usually much smaller. From HEIC, WebP or AVIF it is often larger. The pixel dimensions stay the same unless you resize.
Image to JPG questions
Which image formats can be converted to JPG here?
Common ones such as HEIC, HEIF, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP and TIFF, design files such as PSD, SVG, EPS and AI, and camera RAW formats including CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, DNG, RAF, ORF and RW2. You can mix them in one batch of up to 20 files.
How do I convert an image to JPG under 200 KB?
Convert first, then shrink. A typical 12-megapixel phone photo at quality 85 is a few megabytes as a JPG, so set Resize output image to a longest side of about 1600 px here, then run the result through Compress image with a 200 KB target if it is still too big.
What happens to a PNG logo with a transparent background?
JPG cannot store transparency, so the transparent pixels are filled with the color under Transparent areas, white by default. On a white page that looks identical. If the logo must sit on different colored backgrounds, keep it as PNG.
Is JPG the same thing as JPEG?
Yes. They are two extensions for one format, defined by the Joint Photographic Experts Group and published as ISO/IEC 10918-1 in 1994 (ITU-T T.81, 1992). The files produced here use .jpg, which every form that asks for JPEG accepts.
Why are my converted JPG files bigger than the originals?
HEIC, WebP and AVIF are newer formats that compress better than JPEG, so the same picture needs more bytes as a JPG. Converting from PNG, BMP, TIFF or RAW is the opposite case and usually makes files much smaller.
Do the colors change when converting to JPG?
Output is sRGB by default, the color space browsers, phones and most printers assume. Photos shot in Display P3 or Adobe RGB are converted so they do not look washed out. Choose Keep original under Colour space if you are preparing files for a color-managed print workflow.
