WebP to MP4 Converter
Animated WebP files play in a browser tab and almost nowhere else. Converting them to MP4 gives you a normal video that phones, editors, slide decks and social apps treat like any other clip.

Lower is better quality and a bigger file. 18 looks identical to the source, 23 is the default, 28 and above shows visible softening.
Frames per second. Keep the source rate unless a platform asks for a specific one; 15–20 fps is plenty for GIFs.
Only used for PowerPoint files and single still images: how long each slide or picture stays on screen.
Auto uses AAC for MP4/MOV and Opus for WebM. Copy keeps the original sound untouched when the new format supports it.
192 kbps is transparent for music; 128 kbps is enough for speech.
Width of the animation in pixels; height follows the aspect ratio. 480 px suits chats, 720 px or more gives a high-quality GIF but a much larger file.
GIF holds at most 256 colors. Fewer colors make a smaller file but cause banding on gradients and skin tones.
Mixes palette colors in a fine pattern to hide banding. Sierra gives the smoothest result; none gives the smallest file.
Whether the animation repeats endlessly or plays one time and stops.
Optional. Seconds (e.g. 75) or minutes:seconds (1:15). Leave empty to start at the beginning.
Optional. Same format as the start time. Leave empty to keep everything up to the end.
The converted file will be at or just under this size.
How to use this tool
- 1
Add the WebP files
Drop animated or still WebP images on the upload area, up to 20 at a time and 95 MB each.
- 2
Check the defaults
The page starts on H.264 video at Quality (CRF) 20 with no sound track. A still WebP becomes a clip as long as Seconds per slide, 5 seconds unless you change it.
- 3
Convert and save
Press Convert to MP4 and download each video, or the ZIP for a batch.
Upload the WebP, press Convert to MP4, and the animation comes back as a silent H.264 video with every frame in place.
Where animated WebP files come from
Google released WebP in 2010 as a still-image format; animation and transparency arrived with the extended format a couple of years later, and Chrome 32 played animated WebP in 2014. Today GIF search sites, meme pages and online stores send animated WebP to the browser because it is far lighter than GIF. Right-click and save, and that is what lands in your Downloads folder.
WhatsApp stickers are another source: every animated sticker in the app is a 512 × 512 px WebP. The trouble starts when you want to use one outside a browser. Editors such as iMovie and Premiere Pro import video files, not animated WebP, and social apps ask for a recorded clip rather than an image.

WEBP
WebP image
WebP is an image format released by Google in 2010 to make web pages load faster. It supports both lossy and lossless compression, alpha transparency and animation in a single format. Lossy WebP files are typically 25–35% smaller than JPEGs of similar visual quality, and lossless WebP is usually smaller than PNG. Every current browser supports it, but some older desktop software, print services and upload forms still reject it. Windows, macOS and most modern image editors can open WebP files.

MP4
MPEG-4 video
MP4 (MPEG-4 Part 14) is a multimedia container standardised by ISO/MPEG and based on Apple's QuickTime format. It usually holds H.264 or HEVC video with AAC audio, and can also carry subtitles, chapters and metadata. It is the most compatible video format in the world, playing on phones, browsers, TVs, game consoles and social platforms. The video inside is almost always lossy, so repeated re-encoding gradually reduces quality.

WebP goes to MP4 when an animation saved from a website or a sticker pack has to behave like a real video: posted to a Reel, dropped into a timeline or played in a slide.
Using the MP4 once it is converted
The converted clip has a constant picture size and H.264 video, which iPhones, Android phones, PowerPoint, Keynote and every major editor accept. A sticker loop is often only one or two seconds long; most social apps and slides repeat short videos automatically, and an editor lets you duplicate the clip to make it longer.
Going the other way, from a recording to a lightweight animation for a web page, is what MP4 to WebP is for. If the destination is a chat that still wants GIF, try WebP to GIF instead, keeping in mind that GIF limits every frame to 256 colors.
WebP to MP4 questions
How do I convert an animated WebP to MP4 and keep every frame?
Upload it as it is. Every frame and its display time is carried into the video, so the motion matches what you saw in the browser. Leave Frame rate on Same as source unless an app demands a fixed rate.
Why can't I upload a WebP sticker to Instagram or TikTok?
Their video uploaders accept video files such as MP4 and MOV. An animated WebP is an image format, so it is either refused or flattened into a single still. As an MP4 it posts like any recorded clip.
What happens to a transparent WebP background in the MP4?
H.264 video has no alpha channel, so transparent areas are filled with a solid color, usually black. If the clip must stay see-through on a web page, keep the WebP, or use WebP to GIF when one fully transparent color is enough.
Is the MP4 bigger than the animated WebP?
Often it is smaller, especially for clips longer than a few seconds, because a video codec only stores what changes between frames. Very short loops of a few frames can come out slightly larger, since every MP4 carries a fixed amount of header data.
Can a single still WebP become a video?
Yes. A WebP with one frame becomes a still clip lasting Seconds per slide, anything from 1 to 60 seconds. That is a quick way to make a title card for an editor that only imports video.
Does the video get sound?
No. A WebP never contains audio, so the page sets Remove audio and writes a silent MP4. Add music later in your editor, or pair a still image with a track in audio to video.
