SVG to WebP Converter
Render a vector file into a WebP at exactly the pixel width your layout needs. Useful when a CMS refuses SVG uploads, a social preview needs a bitmap, or an illustration has so many paths that the browser is slow to draw it.

85 keeps photos visually identical to the original. Lower it only when you need a smaller file.
JPG, BMP and EPS have no transparency. Transparent pixels are filled with this color.
Hex color used behind transparent pixels, e.g. #FFFFFF.
This format holds a single image. Choose GIF or WebP output if you want to keep the animation.
A multi-size icon contains several resolutions in one file; browsers and operating systems pick the one they need.
Keep the original dimensions, or enter one side and the aspect ratio is kept.
Pixels for the side you chose above.
Percentage of the original dimensions.
sRGB is right for screens and the web. Keep the original for print workflows; grayscale discards color.
Metadata only, 0 keeps the original value. Printers and some portals read this number; it does not change pixel dimensions.
How to use this tool
- 1
Upload the SVG
Add up to 20 .svg files exported from Figma, Illustrator, Inkscape or a chart library, 95 MB each.
- 2
Set the output width
Resize output image starts at a width of 1200 px; change it to twice the width the image will occupy on the page. Quality is 90, or tick Lossless under Advanced settings for flat logos and icons.
- 3
Convert to WebP
Press Convert to WebP and download the files or one ZIP. Transparent areas stay transparent.
How do I convert SVG to WebP at a specific size?
Upload the SVG, set Resize output image to the width in pixels you need (1200 px by default), and press Convert to WebP. The vector is drawn fresh at that width, so nothing is upscaled or blurred.
When an SVG should become a WebP
SVG became a W3C Recommendation in 2001 and is the right format for most logos and icons: a few kilobytes of text that stays sharp at any zoom. The trouble starts when a file leaves your own code. WordPress and many hosted shop builders refuse SVG uploads, link previews on Facebook, LinkedIn and X are fetched as bitmaps, and design tools export illustrations with embedded raster effects that turn a vector file into several megabytes of markup.
WebP, which Google released in 2010 and Safari finally supported in version 14 in 2020, is the bitmap built for that job: smaller than PNG at the same look, with a real alpha channel. Rendering the SVG straight to WebP at its final size skips the usual detour through a large PNG export. If you also want the reverse, our page on WebP to SVG explains why that direction needs tracing rather than conversion.

SVG
Scalable Vector Graphics
SVG is an XML-based vector format standardised by the W3C in 2001. Instead of pixels it describes shapes, paths and text, so it stays sharp at any size and is usually tiny for logos and icons. It supports transparency, CSS styling, scripting and animation, and every browser renders it natively. SVG is unsuitable for photographs, and complex illustrations can become slow to render. Illustrator, Inkscape, Figma and browsers can open and edit it.

WEBP
WebP image
WebP is an image format released by Google in 2010 to make web pages load faster. It supports both lossy and lossless compression, alpha transparency and animation in a single format. Lossy WebP files are typically 25–35% smaller than JPEGs of similar visual quality, and lossless WebP is usually smaller than PNG. Every current browser supports it, but some older desktop software, print services and upload forms still reject it. Windows, macOS and most modern image editors can open WebP files.

People convert SVG to WebP to get a light, fixed-size bitmap for places that will not take vector files or draw them slowly, such as a CMS, a social preview or a busy landing page; WebP to SVG is a tracing job, not a format swap.
How the SVG is rasterized and what to check
The converter reads the SVG's own width, height and viewBox, then draws every path at the width you set; the height follows the aspect ratio. Because the drawing happens at the final size, thin strokes and small text are anti-aliased once, at the right scale. Upscaling a small PNG later never looks as clean.
Fonts are the usual surprise. If the SVG names a typeface that is not embedded or converted to outlines, a fallback font is used and line lengths change. Outline the text in your design tool before exporting. External images linked by URL inside the SVG are not fetched, so embed them or flatten the artwork first.
SVG to WebP converter: do and don't
| Do | Don't |
|---|---|
| Render at 2× the displayed CSS width | Convert simple inline icons that are smaller as SVG |
| Use Lossless for flat logos with few colors | Render at 4000 px for a 600 px slot |
| Keep the SVG master for future sizes | Send WebP in email newsletters |
| Serve the WebP with width and height attributes to avoid layout shift | Expect live text: the WebP is pixels, not selectable type |
SVG to WebP questions
What pixel width should I use when converting SVG to WebP?
Take the width the image is displayed at in CSS pixels and double it, so it stays sharp on high-density phone and laptop screens. An illustration shown in an 800 px column should be rendered at 1600 px. Going to 3× rarely pays off on the web, because the file grows while the visible gain is small.
Is WebP better than SVG for a website?
Not for simple logos, icons and diagrams: a clean SVG is tiny and sharp at every size, so keep it. WebP wins for complex illustrations with gradients, filters or thousands of paths, and for any place that accepts only bitmaps, such as social previews or a CMS without SVG support.
Does the WebP keep the transparent background of my SVG?
Yes. WebP has a full alpha channel in both lossy and lossless mode, so areas with no fill in the SVG stay transparent. Edges of shapes are anti-aliased against transparency, which looks right on any background color.
Lossy or lossless WebP for vector artwork?
Lossless suits flat logos, icons and charts with a handful of solid colors; those compress very well and keep perfectly clean edges. Lossy at quality 85 to 90 suits illustrations with gradients, shadows or textures, where lossless files get heavy. Try both on one file and keep the smaller result that looks clean.
Why can't I upload SVG to WordPress?
WordPress leaves SVG out of its allowed upload types because an SVG can carry scripts. It has accepted WebP since version 5.8, released in 2021, so converting gives you a file the media library takes without a security plugin. Sites that need true vectors can still add SVG support through a sanitizing plugin.
Can I use the WebP in an email newsletter?
Avoid it. Several email clients, including desktop Outlook for Windows, do not display WebP, and Gmail does not render SVG either. Render the artwork with SVG to PNG for email instead.
