Increase PDF Size to 200 KB

A typed certificate or a phone scan saved by a good app can weigh 40 KB, and some upload portals refuse anything under 200 KB. Upload the PDF here and get it back at 200 KB or a little more, with every page looking exactly as before.

How to use this tool

  1. 1

    Upload the PDF

Add the certificate, marksheet or ID scan the portal rejected. Up to 20 PDFs can be enlarged in one batch, each up to 95 MB.

  2. 2

    Leave 200 KB and Padding

Target size is 200 KB and Increase by is Padding, which changes nothing you can see. Switch to Higher image quality only for blurry scans.

  3. 3

    Increase and upload

Press Increase size, download the PDF and upload it to the portal. It opens in any PDF reader, and its title, author and dates are kept.

Answer

How do I make a PDF at least 200 KB?

Upload it, keep Target size at 200 KB and Increase by on Padding, and press Increase size. The pages stay exactly the same; only invisible data is added until the file reaches 200 KB.

Increase PDF size to 200 KB: why portals ask for it

A minimum PDF size is a blunt test for legibility. A one-page scan saved at a readable resolution normally weighs a couple of hundred kilobytes, so a 25 KB file hints that someone uploaded a thumbnail or a scan with the contrast crushed to white. Some scholarship, admission and recruitment portals in India set 200 KB as that floor for certificates and marksheets; requirements vary by notice, so read yours before uploading.

The test misfires on good files. A certificate exported from Word, a PDF generated by a government website, or a scan from an app that cleans the page to pure black and white can all be crisp and still tiny, because text and flat backgrounds compress extremely well. Re-scanning will not help. Raising the file to 200 KB will.

PDF has room for this by design. Since Adobe published it in 1993, and through its ISO standards ISO 32000-1 in 2008 and PDF 2.0 in 2017, a PDF has been a set of numbered objects plus a table saying where each one starts. Readers draw only the objects a page refers to, so extra data can sit in the file without appearing anywhere.

What 200 KB means for a scanned page

2480 × 3508pixels in one A4 page scanned at 300 dpi

That is what Higher image quality renders at its default 300 dpi, enough detail to push most scanned pages well past 200 KB on its own.

Three kinds of PDF, three settings

  1. Typed or generated PDF

Certificates from a website, letters from Word. Keep Padding: the text stays real text and nothing visible moves.

  2. Faint or blurry scan

Choose Higher image quality at 300 dpi with Keep selectable text on. The pages are re-rendered and the file usually clears 200 KB without padding.

  3. Narrow size window

If the rule is 200–220 KB, switch Size to As close as possible so the result lands within about 1 KB of the target.

Smaller floors are common too: increase PDF size to 100 KB uses the same method. If the portal's problem is the opposite, a 2 MB scan where the limit is a maximum of 200 KB, use compress PDF to 200 KB. For scans that start out legible, our guide on how to scan documents to PDF covers lighting, resolution and apps.

Increase PDF size to 200 KB questions

How do I increase PDF size to 200 KB without changing the pages?

Keep Increase by on Padding. The tool adds data that PDF readers never draw, so every page, font and image stays identical, and stops once the file reaches 200 KB.

Should I pick At least the target or As close as possible?

At least the target is right for a plain minimum. Choose As close as possible when the portal gives a narrow window, such as 200–220 KB, and you want the file to land within about 1 KB of 200.

Will Higher image quality make a typed PDF look different?

It re-renders each page as an image at the DPI you pick, 300 by default. With Keep selectable text on, the words remain searchable and copyable on top of the image. For a typed document this is rarely needed; Padding reaches 200 KB without touching the pages.

Can a 30 KB PDF really be raised to 200 KB?

Yes. Padding has no practical upper limit, so a one-page letter from Word or Google Docs can reach 200 KB or 2 MB. The document is not more detailed afterward; it simply meets the portal's rule.

My portal wants a PDF between 200 KB and 500 KB. What should I enter?

Enter 210 to 250 KB with At least the target selected. That leaves margin above the floor, for portals that count 1,024 bytes per KB, and plenty of room under the ceiling.

Is it safe to enlarge a digitally signed certificate?

Be careful. Any rewrite of a signed PDF, such as a certificate fetched from DigiLocker, can make PDF readers report the signature as altered. If the portal verifies signatures, ask whether it accepts the original file, or upload the original if it already meets the size rule.
