Compress Image to 80 KB

Eighty kilobytes sits in the middle of the 50–100 KB band that bank recruitment forms set for the handwritten declaration, and safely under the 100 KB photo caps on many other portals. Upload the scan or photo and get a JPEG at or just under 80 KB.

Answer

How do I compress a JPEG to 80 KB?

Upload it here, keep the 80 KB target and JPG output, and press Compress to JPG. If the form gives exact pixel dimensions, enter them under Resize first so the tool spends the 80 KB on the right size.

Which uploads fall in the 50–100 KB range

Recruitment forms for banks in India split the applicant's images into four files, each with its own size band. The photograph and the left thumb impression are 20–50 KB, the signature 10–20 KB, and the handwritten declaration, a short paragraph in your own handwriting confirming your details, sits at 50–100 KB. That last file is the one 80 KB is made for.

Outside India, 100 KB ceilings are common for photos. Bangladeshi government job applications on Teletalk's portal have set a 100 KB limit for the photo, and many university and scholarship forms elsewhere use the same round number. A target of 80 KB passes all of them without anyone having to guess how the form counts kilobytes.

NTA range is 10–200 KB, so 80 KB fits

The pixel count decides how good 80 KB looks. An 800 × 400 px declaration has 320,000 pixels, so 80 KB works out to about 2 bits per pixel, which is high quality for black text on white. A 300 × 300 px photo gets over 7 bits per pixel, more than it needs. A full phone photo, on the other hand, would have to drop most of its pixels to fit. The tool handles that automatically: quality first, then dimensions.

Getting a clean declaration scan for 80 KB

  1. Write on plain white paper

Use black ink and copy the declaration text exactly as the notice gives it, in your own handwriting.

  2. Capture it flat and evenly lit

Daylight from the side avoids shadows. A phone scanner app or a flatbed both work; the guide to scanning documents has tips.

  3. Crop to the text

Remove the table and the edges of the page so the 800 × 400 px frame holds only the paragraph.

Compress image to 80 KB: questions

What size should the handwritten declaration image be?

Recent IBPS and SBI notices have asked for 800 × 400 px at 200 DPI, between 50 KB and 100 KB, as a JPG. At those dimensions an 80 KB file keeps the handwriting crisp, and it clears both the 50 KB floor and the 100 KB ceiling with room to spare.

My declaration scan comes out at 30 KB. How do I reach 50 KB or more?

Black ink on white paper compresses extremely well, so small results are common. Turn off Allow downscaling, set the 800 × 400 px size under Resize first, and scan in color rather than black and white. If the file is still under 50 KB, increase image size to 100 KB pads it without changing what it shows.

Can I write the declaration on lined paper?

Notices ask for white paper, and lines add detail that both costs bytes and can make the text harder to read. Use a plain sheet and black ink, as most notices require, and write in your own handwriting rather than capital letters only.

Is 80 KB right for a Bangladesh Teletalk job application photo?

It fits the size rule. Government job forms hosted by Teletalk have asked for a 300 × 300 px photo of up to 100 KB, so set Resize first to 300 px width and compress to 80 KB. The signature there has a separate 60 KB limit and 300 × 80 px size.

Will compressing a JPEG to 80 KB twice make it worse?

Yes, a little each time, because JPEG compression discards detail every time it saves. Always start from the original scan or photo rather than from an already compressed copy.

What if my portal allows 100 KB and I want the most detail?

Use compress image to 90 KB, which stays just inside a 100 KB cap. The difference in sharpness between 80 KB and 90 KB is small at form sizes, so 80 KB is the safer default.
